Edit:
Can i change my pick?
If so, then ill pick Lightyear. Sorry guys, just assumed this thing started next month. Well, at least we all know who will finish last!

I assumed you mistook the dates of the draft yes, it seemed unfair to let you draft your first pick that way, so now that you are corrected, I'm about to make my pick in a few minutes.

Well, it's not gonna break records, but the nostalgia could be strong, and the desire to not miss this in theaters with some jawbreaking aerial sequences will matter. So I'll take a shot at Top Gun : Maverick.

The first made over a billion worldwide when it opened a few Christmases back. Not sure how a long layoff or the vocal minority of anti-Amber Heard people (whom I'm sure are also the same people responsible for a certain four-hour recut of a movie few actually liked) will help matters but here goes.

It very well could be. The return of the original cast could give it a big bump and being released at a time where it doesn't really have to compete with either of the MCU projects on the summer release calendar should optimize its total BO.Walleye413 wrote: ↑May 1st, 2022, 10:56 pmRyan Coogler is brilliant - total confidence in him. I'm hoping that Jurassic World - Endgame is as big in the US as I think it will be worldwide

Well that went pretty much how I expected. At least I can't get demoted this year
I'll take Minions: Rise of Gru with my first pick. Haven't seen anything from the Despicable Me franchise gross less than $250M yet so let's hope it continues.
Then I'll grab Black Adam with the second. There's a few options here but I feel reasonably confident this will come out within our window vs. some of the others. Just have to hope DJ delivers and they move it up a couple weeks to take the spot Spidey vacated.

I'd be surprised if Black Adam even made $100 million. It just feels like such an afterthought, compared to other superhero adaptations. Batgirl is better known than Black Adam but that's getting dumped onto HBO Max.
As for Minions, this has been pushed back so many times that it feels like everyone who's not a boomer on Facebook has forgotten about them. I don't even think making the film a prequel to the original Despicable Me is going to help.
Anyway, I'll continue with the superhero movies and choose the recently moved-up Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. I just hope this isn't a reach much like the Steelers taking Kenny Pickett in the first round when they could have gotten him in the second.

Yeah, it's hard. I can't think of anything to pick after the third round. It would pure luck to think something might drop like Malik Willis did.

Re: 2022-23 YEARLONG BOX OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
This seems a bit too soon, but honestly out of the films I have on the higher end of my list right now, it's the one that could surprise and be the smash hit of the late summer. And with a #1 film that was picked low, I need a gamble, so I'll grab Nope.

Sorry it took so long - I will take Puss In Boots.
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

I'll take Strange World and plan on it doing Frozen-like numbers
