Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
Calling all columnists!
I have added the November films to the opening post, so if you want to snap up any of these weeks for yourself, please make it known. (One each, guys.)
Now, here is what is on BOM for December:
12/1 Polaroid, The Disaster Artist, Tribes of Palos Verdes, Wonder Wheel*
12/8 The Shape of Water, All the Money in the World
12/15 Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Ferdinand, Miss Kiet's Children (Wed.)
12/22 Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (Wed.), Pitch Perfect 3, Downsizing, Bastards, The Papers, Happy End
12/25 The Greatest Showman (Mon.), 12/27 Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Project (Wed.)
If anyone thinks any of the minor titles should be excluded, or if there is a title not listed that should be included, please let me know.

Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
Add Wonder Wheel (December 1st). Remove The Six Billion Dollar Man, as filming never began and the director supposedly left the project (he was offered Justice League Dark but passed).
And Last Flag Flying moved up to November 3rd.
Meanwhile, when we will start selecting for December?

Probably late September.Buscemi2 wrote: Meanwhile, when we will start selecting for December?
Really, $6BM never started filming? Wow. I seem to remember at one time Jim Carrey was attached to the project. Wonder if we'll ever see it.

Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
I'm convinced we'll only see it if Weinstein sells the film rights back to Universal (the story about how the rights got split up is a complicated one, dating back to Weinstein's days at Disney). Many directors have been attached (Todd Phillips and Peter Berg were also attached before Szifron got involved) but some issue or another has led to production getting delayed or canceled. In addition, Mark Wahlberg's star is falling and the project might not be middle America enough for him at this point.
If Weinstein sells (I don't understand why they've held onto the rights for so long, the 70's TV adaptation bandwagon's long gone), I'm expecting Tom Cruise to show interest (he just pulled out of Methuselah) and possibly bring in one of his guys onto the project (Doug Liman most likely, McQuarrie's too good to be doing a project like this). The new goal would likely be to have it out before Ang Lee's Gemini Man (another long-in-development project based on a 70's TV show).

Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
Agreed on Wonder Wheel
Also The Disaster Artist - Dec 8
Maybe The Ballad of Lefty Brown - Dec 15, just because it's A24
Drop Miss Kiet's Children - it won't earn anything

Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
Isn't The Disaster Artist opening limited on December 1st then expanding wide on the 8th?numbersix wrote:Agreed on Wonder Wheel

Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
It is. A24 announced the wide expansion months ago (and I bet Warner Bros., who produced the film before selling it off at SXSW, will require A24 to play it wide).

Re: COLUMN SCHEDULE
Question - if Daniel doesn't show up in two weeks to do his column, who wants to step in and do it for him?
