Just want to say thanks to all of you for keeping this site going, its become such a part of my life that i intend to start a career in the film/tv/streaming/computer area. I recently walked away from an electrician apprenticeship (i wont give u the essay or reasons/excuses) and had a car crash which pretty much brought some kind of clarity into my life.
I have no idea where to start though, some help would be appreciated. Although im going into the Aussie desert with my dad for 8 weeks next month (yes theres slow wifi in a remote aboriginal town, so all good), after which, i want to get involved in my passion- film and stuff.
Anyhoo, enough about me. You guys are all so cool, thanks once again for being stubborn and hanging in here, i love u all
Merry Chrissy everyone!

Merry Christmas to you Ron, and to everyone, even if, well, it's not Christma yet.
Your decision sounds great Ron. I don't know where you'll go from here but I hope you'll manage to do something that brings you passion. And those 8 weeks in the Australian desert sound exciting too !! I hope one day I'll have the opportunity to go to Australia and visit your neighborhood buddy
Guys, please, any info on where to get started in the film industry would be much appreciated. Don't mean to take the Xmas spirit away, but I need some help on how to get started...
Should I move to London or perhaps another city?
Really, I'm doing this, so please chime with anything u have to help me. I don't mind being a cameraman or writer or whatever, I just need a kick-start...

London is tough, man, it's really hard to break into the industry. I hear the TV industry in Vancouver is doing well and they're in need of all crew. And Oz is a pretty good film scene - maybe try to get production assistant or assistant AD roles in films shooting in Oz to see what it's all about.
move to a place that makes movies. And google entertainment jobs there. Like six said, you can move London or LA but you'll be a little fish in a big pond. Or you could try Vancouver, Georgia or a smaller place as such and it might be easier to find jobs there. But it's really who you know and where you can get in
Watch out for the traffic if you go to Atlanta, though. I've read bottlenecks are everywhere, transit is of poor quality, and half the streets are named Peachtree so you don't know where the hell you're going.
But you might get to meet Norman Reedus.
