The audience doesn't ask for it. They want to be entertained. You shouldn't make a mainstream film where you are too lazy to film an ending.

No one fails to film an ending out of "laziness." There is a specific, planned out decision made for every single aspect of a script. Even on horror films dumped in January.

Whoever thought making a film end mid-car crash was a good, satisfying ending needs to have their hands cut off so they never make a film again.

The Devil Inside's Cinemascore was an F, which almost never happens. Can you say a 70-80% second week drop?

Can you say who cares? I'll take 5 Top 5 pts (so far), 5 PTA pts (so far) and 30M (so far) for $6 in any league...imdb right now is 4.8, not great, but not Tyler Perry bad.

Yeah seriously, it's already beyond exceeded expectations. It might drop out of the top 5, doesn't matter, it's done its work already.

But Shryke, the opening weekend would have been bigger if not for the awful Cinemascore. The Thursday night/Friday screenings probably accounted for 30% of the final box office.
It's going to sink like a stone next week.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films (Well, FILM) of 1/6/12
I heartily agree, Boosh.
Here are the numbers from BoxOffice.com, since BOM seems to be temporarily down.
Top 10:
5 points - The Devil Inside, $34.5M
4 points - Mission: Impossible, $20.5M
3 points - Sherlock Holmes, $14.0M
2 points - The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, $11.4M
1 point - Alvin and the Chipmunks, $9.5M
War Horse, $8.6M
We Bought a Zoo, $8.4M
Adventures of Tintin, $6.6M
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, $5.7M
New Year's Eve, $3.3M
I must say, Dragon Tattoo is holding really well.
PTA (Nov/Dec leagues):
5 points - The Iron Lady
4 points - A Separation
3 points - Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
2 points - The Devil Inside
1 point - possibly Carnage
This opening by The Devil Inside is the third-largest ever for January, following only Cloverfield and the Star Wars 1997 re-release. It is the largest ever for early January. Unbelievable.
Six is dancing a jig right now... he might have a chance to catch W for the top spot in the draft league.

Pariah will sneak in another point instead of Carnage.
My jig dancing comes with a dash of sense. Still a long way to go to catch up with W, but this will certainly help me reach 2nd place. Not bad for a 13th round pick. Though it'll probably only make 60-70m cume as it will drop harder than a hooker's undergarmants.
