Anybody else meet Anne Hathaway today?

Post by KeyserSoze »

Had to go into downtown today, and as I was pulling into the parking garage, I could see that there was filming going on on one of the side streets. They are currently filming two movies here in Pittsburgh, one with Russel Crowe and one with Jake Gylenhall and Anne Hathaway. I had no idea which one this set up was for though. I was in, of all places, our newly openend cartoon museum talking with the curator about loaning them some of my comic art for a possible future exhibit when in walks Anne Hathaway and another woman. She was fascinated by some of the Beatles' Yellow Submarine cels and movie posters they had on display as well as one very cool cell from the old Shcoolhouse Rock "Conjuction Junction" cartoon. When the curator asked if he could get a photo of her next to the movie poster, she politely declined saying she wasn't doing any pictures today so I knew better than to ask her to take one with me. I did get a chance to talk with her for a couple of minutes, and she seemed really nice. Of course, when I told Christina, her first response was, did I get Jake's phone number from Anne.

The funniest part was that there were hundreds of people outside desperately trying to get a celebrity sighting when little did they know, they could have gone into the Toonseum, and walked right up to one.

You should have asked her to apologize for The Princess Diaries, The Princess Diaries 2, Passengers, the second half of Rachel Getting Married, Bride Wars, The Devil Wears Prada, Havoc, Ella Enchanted, Nicolas Nickelby and for not letting a UK actress play Jane Austen in Becoming Jane.

I'll be sure to do that, and while I'm at it, maybe I'll get her to apologize for World War II, the Spanish Inquisition, The McRib sandwich and Penn State's loss in the 1978 Sugar Bowl.

Anything else anyone would like Anne Hathaway to apologize for?

In case you couldn't tell, the Ba-zinga was implied in that statement

I've never watched The Big Bang Theory. Looks a little too generic for me.

Should have told her you're a contributor for ReelSociety.com and see what she says. :)

Pretty cool stuff. Did she look like a normal person without all the Hollywood makeup on?

And I think the movie with her and Jake is The Viagra Salesman.

The movie is indeed The Viagara Salesman, and it has been filming all over town lately. A friend of ours actually got to meet Russel Crowe while they were filming his movie out at the airport over the weekend. I believe his movie is called The Next Three Days.

Anne looked like a regular person wearing a brown coat and a white scarf. I was more intrigued by the guy on the set across the street wearing a full on bunny suit. Thought maybe they were making Donnie Darko II

I thought the movie was called Love and Other Drugs. It's currently listed for a November 24th, 2010 release date.

It may have changed titles because there were signs up at one time for The Viagara Salesman

Sounds like Pfizer objected to the filmmakers making fun of their product.

Agreed. Love that show!

And, instead of being a dick to her for making movies she made for money (why do people expect people from the industry to not HAVE to take jobs they may not love on occasion like everyone else...), you could have thanked her for Get Smart, Rachel Getting Married, or Havoc (which I actually liked).

Ba-zinga!

Rachel Getting Married- this could have been a great performance but by the end of the film, she goes back to playing boring old Anne Hathaway. Maybe had they had more shots of Debra Winger beating the shit out of her, then it would be fine.

Havoc- what an awful movie. I couldn't believe that Barbara Kopple directed the film (to date, this is the only scripted film that she has directed) and it's no surprise that the film went straight-to-video. Amazingly enough, New Line actually did a sequel to the film (Normal Adolescent Behavior with DTV regular Amber Tamblyn, who seems to be a natural for replacing actors in unneeded sequels).
