Because obviously she has been box office gold until that point. I mean, look at the figures for her other starring roles in Everybody's Fine and Lucky You... Not to mention the stellar performance of Whip It. I think it's pretty safe to say that outside of her ensemble and animated movies, Drew just doesn't have the pulling power I'm afraid.

As of 10/13/2010

1. Tranny $690,118,981 (8/4/4)
2. Buscemi $684,531,938 (6/2/6)
3. Barca $663,186,013 (9/4/3)
4. Banks $644,789,257 (4/0/8)
5. Monkey $592,679,041 (9/2/3)
6. W $447,259,637 (7/2/5)
7. Surfer $280,268,251 (4/2/8)
8. Shryke $271,048,185 (3/2/9)

Closed:
Knight and Day
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Opened:
Life As We Know It
Secretariat
It's Kind Of A Funny Story

Positions remain the same as Tranny does not get the boost he expected on Secretariat (instead I took a few thousand from his lead). However Jackass 3-D should change that. W has the lowest grossing wide opener so far with his pick of It's Kind Of A Funny Story (I still don't know why he took that movie over more viable picks such as The Last Exorcism). Two more Friday openers, RED and Hereafter, are taken as well.

Standings as of 10/26/2010

1. Tranny $802,599,457 (9/6/3)
2. Barca $720,141,201 (10/6/2)
3. Buscemi $700,437,925 (6/2/6)
4. Banks $687,001,928 (5/2/7)
5. Monkey $627,562,715 (9/2/3)
6. W $481,135,827 (7/2/5)
7. Surfer $293,254,003 (5/2/7)
8. Shryke $271,436,442 (3/2/9)

Opened Recently:
Jackass 3-D, RED, Hereafter, Paranormal Activity 2

Closed Recently:
Dinner For Schmucks, The Expendables, Predators, Cats and Dogs 2, Eclipse, Going The Distance

Tranny has built up a large lead thanks to Jackass and Barca has moved up to second thanks to RED and a very frontloaded slate. Banks is challenging for third with Paranormal Activity 2 and the forthcoming Due Date. I will try to hold on with my November lineup of Megamind, 127 Hours and Tangled (I'm still mad about the disappointing box office of Legend of the Guardians, as apparently an animated feature has to be a comedy to succeed).

Meanwhile, when the hell are they going to release a trailer for Sanctum? Is Universal making us anticipate another District 9 or are they just dumping it because The Dilemma is taking all their of ad money (for some unexplainable reason)?

I hope you're right, Boosh. I am COMING FOR YOU, SURFER!!!

Reviewing the lists, I seem to be more back-loaded than anyone else. Hope I can shave at least some of the half-billion deficit I'm currently in.

Well, since The Thing was pushed back and Fast Five was moved up to April, I'll swap one for the other.

I can't see Fast Five staying on that date. The week before the big summer movies start rolling out?

The studio's probably expecting a high opening (around $40-50 million) and bad legs (about $85-100 million in the end). That's how the last one was (Fast and Furious had a multiplier of just 2.18).

Standings as 11/17/2010

1. Tranny $848,165,891 (9/6/3)
2. Buscemi $808,242,227 (9/3/3)
3. Banks $788,553,435 (6/3/6)
4. Barca $774,545,267 (11/7/1)
5. Monkey $645,636,897 (9/5/3)
6. W $499,156,530 (7/2/5)
7. Surfer $343,835,011 (6/3/6)
8. Shryke $337,705,209 (5/3/7)

Opened: Morning Glory, Unstoppable, Skyline
Closed: Ramona and Beezus

Thanks to Megamind, I managed to cut Tranny's lead down to $40 million. Now, each of us have three titles each left (one on Thanksgiving weekend, one Oscar bait title in December and one 2011 release) so the race is on there. Meanwhile, Banks is coping with the disappointing first few weeks of Due Date while Barca looks like he's finished after a bad opening from Morning Glory (unless Scream 4 can manage impossibly high numbers). Also, Surfer may jump W in the next few weeks with Harry Potter.

Standings as of 11/29/2010 (released/closed/not yet released)

1. Buscemi $931,274,762 (10/3/2)
2. Tranny $864,889,491 (10/7/2)
3. Banks $831,502,911 (7/3/5)
4. Barca $796,381,690 (11/7/1)
5. Monkey $648,655,806 (9/7/2)
6. Surfer $569,680,171 (7/4/5)
7. W $501,137,810 (7/4/5)
8. Shryke $391,941,990 (6/3/6)

Closed:
Takers, Piranha 3-D, The Switch, The Other Guys, Machete, It's Kind Of A Funny Story

Opened:
Harry Potter, The Next Three Days, Tangled, Love and Other Drugs, Faster

I have now returned to first after a $68.7 million opening on Tangled. Tranny's counter programming, Faster, managed only a $12 million opening. Not helping Tranny is that I also have Megamind and 127 Hours (the latter goes wide on Friday). Meanwhile, Banks's pick of Love and Other Drugs only does slightly better than Faster ($13.9 million opening) but doesn't help him much. The biggest jump of the week was Surfer, who managed to pass W with Harry Potter and now has his sights on Monkey. Early tracking on Narnia may help Surfer.
