I know we've talked about this before on here, but theaters have made some rather interesting choices when it comes to trailers recently. I wouldn't think the audience seeing Death On The Nile would be the primary audience for The Bad Guys, or, to a lesser extent, Lightyear and The Bob's Burgers Movie (Though those make some sense as they are both from the same studio as Death On The Nile, and there is potential for both to appeal to wider demographics - Lightyear is probably aimed at the audience that grew up with Toy Story more than anything else, and I would assume the age demographic for Bob's Burgers is mostly teenagers and young adults - still, I think that it would make more sense to place movies like Cyrano, The Outfit, and The Lost City, as those films probably appeal more to Death On The Nile's target audience)

It's not as strange as when the trailer for Lightyear showed up before Nightmare Alley - that probably has more to do with the first point than anything else, but it seemed very strange to see a trailer for it before a less-than-uplifiting, very R-rated thriller.
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

All of this is happening because Disney literally has nothing else coming out in the near future. There's no Searchlight titles dated at the moment and since Turning Red pivoted to Disney+, Doctor Strange (which obviously isn't widely showing the teaser trailer that was attached to the No Way Home yet), The Bob's Burgers Movie and Lightyear are the next respective releases for their theatrical distribution arms. Until more of their summer slate is revealed and Searchlight actually dates some stuff in the coming months, the Lightyear and The Bob's Burgers Movie trailers will be attached to nearly everything.

As for your 2nd point, your spot-on with the trailer placements not always making sense. Death on the Nile is a PG-13 title aimed at an older crowd, so wouldn't Universal throw Ambulance, Firestarter or even The Black Phone on there instead of The Bad Guys? I was similarly baffled by the presence of The Cursed and X over Operation Fortune and Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on my print of Jackass last weekend.

X was a red band trailer and seeing how it's coming next month, it makes perfect sense to include it with a hard R title such as Jackass Forever. And The Bad Guys fits with Death on the Nile as both feature crime elements and are European in tone. You wouldn't put a horror title or something that will play exclusively to the 18-35 crowd as suggestions for a movie aimed towards an older, more sophisticated audience. At least parents would take their kids to a DreamWorks Animation movie.

If you want ridiculous trailer inclusions, it felt like I was seeing the Death on the Nile trailer before every movie lately. Action, comedy, drama, horror, Death on the Nile would be on that reel before the movie. That or The Worst Person in the World.
It's like what Lenin said...I am the walrus.

I feel like Ambulance will probably appeal to an older audience than that. The trailer makes it looks more like Michael Mann than Bay.

It was sort of surprising that Universal put the Ambulance trailer in front of Spider-Man, the subject matter seems rather adult for a family audience. It was also slightly trimmed for violence I think. The Bad Guys would've arguably made more sense, they did put the Sing 2 trailer in front of quite a few PG-13 movies.

Trailers before The Worst Person In The World -

The In-Between (supernatural romance with Joey King - I believe it it going straight to Paramount+, but I believe it mentioned a simultaneous day-and-date release, and Landmark put it with the other trailers, so I thought I'd mention it anyway).
Cyrano
Petit Maman
The 2022 Oscar-Nominated Shorts
