If any franchise says it's going to be the last, it's not. See Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, X-Men, Saw, The Fast Saga, etc. And Puss in Boots: The Last Wish set up Shrek 5 so Shrek Forever After definitely wasn't Shrek: The Final Chapter.

I suspect that's the case with Insidious. It is a horror franchise after all .
