The greatest perk of my current job selling movies in a retail store is that customers always trade in used discs for store credit and us staff get to borrow any of those discs for free, so it's highly unlikely that I'll pay to see anything this summer when I can probably wait three months and see it for free. My summer will probably be spent catching up on the classics and weirdo cult films that people trade in, plus all the Spring releases I didn't catch, like The Northman, The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, and Michelle Yeoh In The Yeohverse.

And even if I had the time and money, nothing coming out this summer looks more entertaining than watching Buscemi spend the next three months denying his secret passion for Tranny.

It's nice to have an appreciative audience, even when it's an audience of one.

But if Tranny and Boosch consummate their decade long erotic longing, then we'd have nothing to look forward to!

Anyway, my picks

Seen and liked: The Innocents, Homebound (one of my movies), Pleasure

Maybe: Brian and Charles, The Black Phone, Lightyear

10: Elvis
I'm not a Luhman stan, but I have been reading about the originas of rockabilly lately, and discovered a newfound aappreciation for Pelvis PResley, so I'm looking forward to watching this, even if it's to moan about the historical inaccuracies.

9: Happening
One I've missed from fests and its small threatrical run, so gonna catch it on VOD this summer

8: Benediction
Terence Davies is an underrated director, and one whose style and approach can only be described as humane. This sounds like one of his best films, so can't wait to see this.

7: Dr Strange 2
I know, it's Marvel, and ultimately it'll play like a MacDonalds meal - fun but hollow. But I thought the first one was one of the better MCU films and I'm curious to see if this can continue the diet-surreal style.

6: Three Thousand Years of Longing.
I don't know much about this, but George Miller teaming up with a cast like this sounds like it's worth checking out.

5: Resurrection
From all accounts from Sundance, this sounds like an atmospheric thriller

4: Nope
Peele's brand is more miss than hit, but that trailer and poster still guarantees a cinema visit.

3:Crimes of the Future
Cronenberg is back to his body horror, perhaps in an effort to show his son how to do it. The trailer looks appropriately weird, so keen to see this.

2: Flux Gourmet
Strickland is a great director, and I can't wait to see him try a bit of gross satire to his CV.

1: Men
I'm pretty sure the metaphor is obvious, but it's still nice to see something bold and weird hit cinemas this summer. And I loved Annihilation more than most.

Only Tranny can say for sure, but it's always seemed more one-sided and tragic than that.

While Boosh's antics do provide me with some laughs on occasion, I can confirm that the movie take-based infatuation is not mutual.
