I guess Dead for a Dollar will get a token theatrical release now. It looked like it was going straight-to-DVD for a hot minute.

That's a fine lineup for Venice. Makes one wonder what's left for TIFF?

Excellent question. The Fabelmans, Glass Onion, My Policeman and The Woman King are the biggest gets they've gotten so far. Really the only remaining splashy title that's been eliminated from contention is Till, which got confirmed for a New York Film Festival debut at the end of September. Here's the best guesses I could come with up for potential Toronto/Telluride debuts:
Killers of the Flower Moon (this could end up being an NYFF debut too)
Babylon
She Said
Amsterdam
Empire of Light
Halloween Ends
I Wanna Dance with Somebody
Chevalier
Rustin
Spaceman
Women Talking
See How They Run
A Man Called Otto
The Good Nurse
Spoiler Alert
The Greatest Beer Run Ever
The Wonder
The Swimmers
Shirley
A couple of unexpected premieres from Focus/Searchlights/A24/Neon (Asteroid City perhaps?)

Edit: Scratch Killers of the Flower Moon off the list. Apparently, Apple and Paramount are planning to debut it at Cannes next year.

A lot of those are too mainstream for the festival circuit but I'll be surprised if She Said isn't at Toronto. That's the kind of film that thrives there.

Too mainstream For Telluride? More than likely. Toronto? Not so much. There's always a fair amount of mainstream fare that plays there and since The Woman King and Bros are already confirmed, they're not deviating from that practice this year.

Also, the Venice chief let it slip in an interview with Deadline that Spielberg opted to have the film screen at Telluride and Toronto instead of his festival, so I guess we have the 1st confirmation for Telluride

The subject matter for Bros alone would make it a sure bet for a festival debut. The reviews will probably be terrible but it looks like a midsize hit.

But what I'm referring to are titles like Halloween Ends (Halloween Kills had poor critical reception) and I Wanna Dance with Somebody (it's not really a festival movie). A title like A Man Called Otto could debut at AFI Fest and Women Talking seems like a New York Film Festival title but many of those listed seem to be bets that will bypass festivals.

Edit: Women Talking probably will be a Toronto premiere, seeing how the director's Canadian.

Probably not too surprising that they went with a feel-good movie based on a true story. Toronto loves films like that.

However, if the film isn't careful, it could be forgotten like Thirteen Lives will surely be once it hits Prime.

I'm surprised Tim Story got another directing job after Tom & Jerry. A film like that one kills careers.

And who is exactly that keeps demanding new entries in the V/H/S series? Were these films ever popular?

It's looking like White Noise is going to be a polarizing film. Critics seem to like it (69 on Metacritic) but Venice reception was a bit more muted, only managing a two-and-a-half minute standing ovation (by comparison, Three Thousand Years of Longing got a six minute ovation at Cannes).

By the way, am I the only one who sees the title and immediately thinks of the Michael Keaton film from two decades ago?

I never expected White Noise to be a huge awards contender, despite it being Noah Baumach's follow-up to Marriage Story.

And no, you are not the only one who thinks of the horror film of the same name when you hear the name White Noise (though the Disclosure song comes to mind first for me, personally).
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

It's Netflix and the director's previous film was a Best Picture nominee. In addition, Greta Gerwig's last major film was a Best Picture nominee. This is totally angling for awards.
