Love the theater count for Drive. Now the audiences just need to show up.

I know, I put all my eggs in one basket in regards to the game, hoping it will pan out and have great legs. Sometimes you've just got to take a risk, and this is my one for this season.

Word of mouth has been weak on Contagion. The Cinemascore was only a B-, the Fandango rating was "So-So" and many people felt the ads lied to them (it was promoted as being action-heavy rather than dialogue-heavy). Don't be surprised if it drops over 60%.

A 7.5 rating on IMDB suggests otherwise. I''ve heard nothing but good feedback from the movie. I don't think anyone expected an action movie from the trailers, it didn''t suggest so and I think everyone could kind of guess from the plot outline anyway that it wouldn''t be.Not saying it will have a phenomenol hold, but i think $12m is a good estimate.

Yeah, 12 sounds about right. Only question is whether Drive can beat that or not. I think it can, only just. 13.5 million, but holding solidly to a total of 50.

I think it will be quite tight, but it should win (well, I hope it does). A $5000 PTA (which seems reasonable) would put it at just over $14m, which would certainly give it the top spot.

I'd be surprised if that 11 holds for Drive. We barely had 50 people come see it today and most of them left unhappy and didn't like the movie. It'll still finish 3rd but probably only about 10 mil and that great IMDB score is sure to drop a point or so. I Warned you all!

I bet one of them said something along the lines of, "I didn't think it would have so much driving."

HATED it when people used to do that.

Isnt september such a dismal time of the year? i know boosh is opposed but i think its worse than January, at least that had The Green Hornet. What is goin on in the states right now? is it that the holidays are over or do these movies just plain suck

The festivals are going on. Studios are on autopilot while attending those and hoarding the big movies for November and December.
