I actually went to the theater at Pleasure Island about this time last year. It's pretty huge and a giant circle, so it's easy to go from one movie to the next without paying for a second ticket. :)

Actually it was the exact day Inception released and I saw it in digital (I think that's what they called it) and it had a bunch of giant speakers on both side walls that made the room shake whenever an explosion happened. Afterwards, I saw that Sorcerer's Apprentice was on, so I went in there. The room Sorcerer's Apprentice was played in didn't impress me much, though.

I'd like to get back down there sometime fairly soon. A buddy of mine tends bar at a Pleasure Island restaurant.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

This may be the most dismal weekend ive seen for many months, i hate this shit. Even though i reckon Our Idiot Brother wont be as good as Walk Hard, i thought it would pull better numbers.

I'm desperately trying to avoid elimination in both Ultimate tournaments. Which do you think is a better pick, Circumstance or Buzzkill?

Probably Circumstance, though I imagine both will struggle for points against Brighton Rock, Higher Ground, The Help and Lisbon.

Circumstance. Buzzkill is just a quickie run before DVD.
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

Well, I've got $7 left in the Ult FY. Don't Be Afraid seems like a clearly superior choice to Colombiana, but that leaves me able to only pick Buzzkill or Circumstance. I could pick Higher Ground or Brighton Rock, but then I would have to ditch Don't Be Afraid for Our Idiot Brother. I think I can pick up more points by getting Top 5 points rather than getting PTA points, so that doesn't seem to be an option.

I initially had Buzzkill, but I will replace it with Circumstance and pray.

In the Ult HY, I have Don't Be Afraid, Our Idiot Brother AND Circumstance. Here's hoping that the nearly full point in Rating that I might be giving up (so far) is worth it.

I hope I survive in the Ult HY, because I am in AWESOME shape in Round Two, being in 4th place with three films (all PTA hopefuls) still to come out.

Yeah, I've been looking at my Round Two slate in ULT HY and I'm pretty happy with how it's going as I sit atop with Moneyball still to come, but you are certainly my closest rival for the moment. Why I'm helping you out then I don't know...

Because I always forget to play, and then it just totally screws you, so I gave up trying. Was never all that fun for me anyway.

We do actually play an averages league also which allows those who can't enter every week to still have a competition to play for. If you're not interested though it's no big deal.

Official theater counts, current RT scores and current IMDb Ratings:

Colombiana - 2,614 theaters, 63% (5/8), 5.6 (445 votes)
Our Idiot Brother - 2,555 theaters, 70% (32/45), 6.6 (488 votes)
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark - 2,400 theaters, 59% (26/44), 7.3 (973 votes)
Brighton Rock - 11 theaters, 48% (26/54), 5.7 (1141 votes)
Circumstance - 7 theaters, 67% (10/15), 6.3 (301 votes)
Higher Ground - 3 theaters, 79% (15/19), 3.8 (131 votes)
Buzzkill - 1 theater, no score, 7.1 (73 votes)

So I guess I'll pick Circumstance over Buzzkill. I'm avoiding Higher Ground because of the horrible Rating.

Estimates for next week:

Apollo 18 - 2,750 theaters, no reviews, no Rating
Shark Night 3D - 2,400 theaters, no reviews, no Rating
The Debt (Wed.) - 1,700 theaters, 100% (3/3), 7.0 (425 votes)
Love Crime - N/A, 53% (8/15), 6.4 (621 votes)
Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life - 3 theaters (according to the film's official site), 85% (28/33), 6.8 (2506 votes)

Funny thing about Apollo 18... IMDb STILL does not have ANY of the actors from the movie listed on the film's page! (I had to go to the Wikipedia page to find out that the two actors' names are Lloyd Owen and Warren Christie, and it also says that the film is being promoted as "found footage" that does not "use actors". Even Bob Weinstein is playing that angle up. Umm, yeah.)

Something a little off-topic, and something I can't believe I never heard until now...

I went to high school in Phoenix, of course, a Cathloic school called Brophy College Preparatory. It was an all-guy school, but we had a "sister" school only a few hundred yards away called Xavier, which was all-female.

And what really famous current actress graduated from Xavier only a few short years ago?

Emma Stone.

That's just cool, knowing that she and I walked the same hallways.
