except it's not a tyler perry movie and it definitely doesn't have the imdb/ratings score of a tyler perry movie.
Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 8/19/11
But If they had Madea in The Help, that would make the film a success.
But since Tyler Perry's not in it, it didn't happen.

But they had similar Cinemascores (the IMDb is run by trolls and Perry's movies are critic-proof). Also, The Help supposedly bombed in larger markets (I read that the film underperformed in Chicago and Dallas, larger markets than the three markets where it did the best).

This is in the running for the single worst Box Office weekend ever.

Dude, how often is it that we get 3 new wide releases, and there isn't one that I would even watch on cable. You'd have to pay me to see any of those films.

And anyone else with a brain. Guarantee none of those movies have an IMDB score over 6

If I had to watch one of these three films, it would have to be in some kind of awkward situation I have no control of...

I have a fond nostalgia of both originals of Conan and Fright Night, an can't say I'd actively avoid either, though neither look like they hold a candle to the originals. I am getting to a point though where I'm intrigued to see anything with Anton Yelchin in, he seems to boost any movie he is involved with, no matter how bad ( okay, maybe not The Smurfs...).

Well, Disturbia did pretty damn well, it was #1 for three weeks. And like I said, Fright Night is being pushed towards teens and younger adults, not neccessarily horror/genre fans. It almost looks like a horror/dark-comedy from the commercials.Buscemi wrote:It's just Disturbia with an R rating. Also, test screenings went horribly and the horror fans are angry about it. I think Spy Kids and Conan will beat it.BanksIsDaFuture wrote:I kind of think Fright Night will come out on top, at least as far as new releases go. I've been seeing tons of promo on MTV and ESPN, and it looks like they're targeting teens by making fun of Twilight. Not sure if it'll work, but I can see at least a nice sized OW followed by huge drops.
And really, whichever new release comes out on top, they'll all pretty much flop and do horribly.

Terrible as Conan may look, can anything really do worse than The Covenant?

Also, that claim of the ads for Fright Night trashing Twilight makes me think of Vampires Suck. The only people who liked that movie were fans of Twilight.
And the writer of the Fright Night remake also wrote the Twilight clone I Am Number Four.

Conan seriously doesn't look that bad. A movie with Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang and Rose McGowan in the cast has to be somewhat decent.MisterInformative wrote:Terrible as Conan may look, can anything really do worse than The Covenant?
And wasn't one of the film's writers also a Fantasy Moguls columnist?
