That still doesn't sound too good. Probably won't make 100 mil for the 3-day. In fact with Potter out shortly it may even not break 300 mil!

It wouldn't surprise me. The hate for the second one was so strong that this one needed to be a huge improvement. A 36% Rotten Tomatoes rating is not strong.

Also, I noticed that one of the theatres here already has one screen splitting it with Green Lantern.

I think it would be in the best spirit of competition that id you DID take it, you wouldn't drop it AFTER numbers were released, and vice-versa, you wouldn't go add it afterwards either.

I agree Geezer: we asked Italians to declare in the forum if they wanted to buy Transformers3 before of 12.00 pm of wednesday and they did it.
Nikki Finke is reporting 165 Domestic in the first 6 days.
It seems that MTC was right this time.

It's going to make 165M through the holiday weekend, even if it only made 100M more it's entire run it would still be a good pick in either league. It's not like it was $50 and cost you half your slate. Considering the slim pickings on other blockbusters I'd still say it's worth its money in either league.

Transformers made $21M on Thursday, bringing it's pre-weekend total to $64.7M.

It's only looking like $14-15 million for the weekend. Reviews seemed to kill it.

Meanwhile, Monte Carlo is at $8-10 million for the weekend.

Larry Crowne and Monte carlo will be great additions to my bankrupts slate. Deadlines 2pm update has transformers at mid to high 20's today which i think is low. Our parking lot and the theater next to ours also playing transformers had way more cars in it than it did wed.

Even still, $165M for the 6-day is nowhere a flop or anything. And it's got three weeks until Captain America comes out, which will be it's only competition, and I doubt many are highly anticipating that...

It seems that the only people that won on Larry Crowne was Universal. They only spent $30 million to make it and sold the foreign rights to Summit. That means they only need about a $40-50 million gross (including DVD, VOD and television) to break even.

Wow. I expected a lot more for Larry Crowne. Guess Tom's not an automatic draw unless it's a Da Vinci Code movie.

Most of us did. It's sad to think that a similar film with no redeeming qualities and completely unlikeable characters (Bad Teacher) got better reviews and had a better weekend that it.

I guess people don't want movies the way they used to make them.

no, i'm not calling it a flop, but it's another film thats doing less than estimated. and what, you don't see Harry Potter being competition for it?
