Denzel Curry feat. Twelve'len and GoldLink, Black Balloons - this was the song that got me interested in Denzel (even if it's not my favourite from the album it's still up there with the best), and now he has a couple of us in this household following everything he does...and he has had a great couple of years since this song put him on the map...I had two of his songs in my favourite songs of 2019
Which ones? Although Black Balloons is my favorite song by him, I liked ZUU a bit more TA1300.

Also I'll have the thread recap up in a bit. I haven't added to anyone's lists since the forum got back online, but I'm going to get on that right now.
His cover of Bulls On Parade, and Psycho with slowthai.
His vocal delivery is intense on both of these songs!

Ron B - The Heinrich Maneuver - Know this song well. I like Six's Interpol pick from this thread better, but this song is pretty frickin' cool too. 7.5/10

Chien - Stuck On the Puzzle - I liked this, though I can't quite nail down why. It had the light, Crowded House/Squeeze vibe that I find very appealing. 7.5/10

Leestu - Standing in the Way of Control - This was everything your description said. Really liked it. 7/10

Geezer - Don't Make Me Go - I did enjoy this a lot more than the other one. These are really from the same album? 6.5/10

Surfer - Mass Romantic - Pretty cool. Love your descriptions! 6.5/10

Six - Ingenue - Very trippy, pretty much what I expect from Thom. Song was okay. 6/10

NSpan - Black Grease - I kept waiting for it to go somewhere after that lengthy intro, but it never did. Dig the guitars, though. 6/10

JohnErle - I normally loathe Pearl Jam. This wasn't as bothersome to me as most of their stuff, but that's not saying much. 5.5/10

Screen203 - Sexotheque - Meh. Not my thing.

Transformers - Tyrant - Again, not my thing.

His cover of Bulls On Parade is incredible. Not too many artists can match Zak De Loach's intensity, but he pulled it off perfectly.

Haven't heard Psycho. I'll have to check that out ASAP.

I've got everyone's next few songs. Does anyone want to take a day or two before we resume, or shall we roll on?

Keep rolling on. Between the forum being down and the few days between the end of #90-81 and the start of #80-71, I think we need a little break from breaks

#72,#71
possibly the best 2-round stint so far!
- and i would rather have a break, as you can see i've only just caught up!

CHIEN
Sigur Ros, Svefn-g-englar (2000)
FL? I was going to say something snarky like six about it not being Icelandic, but i was wrong. Bit long though. 6/10
Alex Turner - Stuck on the Puzzle (2011)
FL. Pretty good! 6/10

GEEZER
Dropkick Murphys, The Warrior's Code (2005)
FL? Some people hate Radiohead or Smashmouth, i hate this band. Dont hate this song so much though. 3.5/10
Off With Their Heads, Don't Make Me Go (2013)
FL. Decent stuff. See, i don't hate everything you love ;) 5.5/10

JOHNERLE
Big Sugar, So Not Over (2001)
FL. Its not horrible, not great either. Somewhere in between, but hard for me on a first listen. 5/10
Pearl Jam, Man Of The Hour (2003)
FL. Very subdued, i prefer their heavier stuff. 5/10

LEESTU
Mclusky, To Hell With Good Intentions (2002)
FL. After a minute, i had to plug in the headphones, cause this was goooood! 7/10
Gossip, Standing In The Way Of Control (2006)
I did like this one when it came out, good solid beat. 6.5/10

NSPAN
Dandy Warhols, Cool as Kim Deal (2000)
FL. Not bad. 5/10
Black Angels, Black Grease (2005)
FL. Really dug this, great pick man! 7/10

SCREEN203
Tinashe, SuperLove (2016)
FL. Catchiest song of 2016?! Thats got to raise some eyebrows. Because this was below average IMO. 2.5/10
La Roux, Sexotheque (2014)
I might be one of the few who like La Roux, like you! 6/10

SHRYKE
UB40 feat. Hunterz and The Dhol Blasters, Reasons (2005)
FL. Yeah, nah. Bob Marley still smiling way above. 4/10
Scandroid, Neo Tokyo (2017)
FL. Wow, this song started off so well, the synths made me turn it right up. But the vocals weren't so good and made the song go from a possible 9 to a 7 :(. 7/10

SIX
The Futureheads, Hounds of Love (2004)
FL. Didn't mind it but it didn't grab me. 5/10
Atoms for Peace, Ingenue (2013)
Totally forgot about this song. Its real good. 7/10

SURFER
Cloud Nothings, Stay Useless (2012)
Wow, the first song i know all round! I quite like it, but the vocals aren't quite there. Nice one. 6.5/10
The New Pornographers, 'Mass Romantic' (2000)
FL. This was a good rollicking track, i liked it a lot. 7/10

TRANSFORMERS
Denzel Curry feat. Twelve'len and GoldLink, Black Balloons (2018)
Another familiar song, starting to think i need to know a song pretty well before i decide i really like it. Good pick 6.5/10
Kali Uchis feat. Jorja Smith, Tyrant(2017)
Does nothing for me. Nothing new here. 3/10

I'm happy to keep moving, although if others are struggling (I miss Geez's blunt feedback!) then a day or two is also fine.

I can barely keep up with commenting on my own picks, let alone everyone else's, so I'd be happy for another break. I haven't even listened past round 74 yet. I only plan to comment on the tracks that work for me anyway, so if the majority would rather carry on that's fine with me.

Well, we took a day or two off after we did 20 songs, so we'll plan another break after we reach #61. Till then, on we go!

The Great

Black Angels, Black Grease - first listen...add psychedelic to the description and there's a good chance I'll like it...the stoner rock vibe helps as well...I've heard their 2017 album (Currency was on my favourite songs of 2017 list) and want to hear more of them...added this album to my to list

The Very Good

The New Pornographers, 'Mass Romantic' - first listen...possibly the best song of theirs I've heard so far...really liked the fun vibe

Alex Turner - Stuck on the Puzzle - first listen...Arctic Monkeys, The Last Shadow Puppets, or on his own. he knows how to write a good song...love his vocals

Off With Their Heads, Don't Make Me Go - first listen...I liked this a lot...I got into the the lyrics and felt his pain

Scandroid, Neo Tokyo - first listen...yeah I can see why this kept getting bumped up your list, I reckon it would be a grower...some good retro synths combined with that voice makes for a good overall atmosphere

Pearl Jam, Man Of The Hour - I prefer their rockier stuff but with a voice like that any Pearl Jam will do in my book...amazing live!

The Good

Interpol, The Heinrich Maneuver -first listen...I like it but they never click with me as much as others of their ilk, especially album wise so I've only heard their debut album

Atoms for Peace, Ingenue - first listen...interesting but in a cold detached way...want another "what is wrong with my music taste" opinion? - Amnesiac is better than Kid A, and In Rainbows and Hail To the Thief are better than both of them - agree that A Moon Shaped Pool is a return to their excellence though

La Roux, Sexotheque - first listen...better than other La Roux songs I've heard...I think it was the woodwind sounding synth riff throughout the song that I liked

The Meh

Kali Uchis feat. Jorja Smith, Tyrant - first listen...not a fan of either of these artists

So it turns out I can still write posts here at work, but I have to save the draft then log in with my phone using my data and post it that way. Pretty cumbersome, but workable.

Catching up a bit...

Black Greasy Angels – I like that a lot. I'm pretty sure it was you who introduced me to them originally.

Alex Turner – About halfway through I realized that was Mr. Arctic Monkey his own self. Not bad. It's worth another listen or two.

Don't Make Me Go – That opening riff sounds like a blatant rip-off of something I can't quite place. Smashing Pumpkins maybe? That's going to drive me crazy until I figure it out. Still, I kinda liked it until it got all shouty near the end.

Hounds Of Love – Now that's how you do a cover. Make it your own and make it unrecognizable, but whatever you do, don't make another cliched, Gary Jules/Mad World, slow, pseudo-ominous piano ballad that will end up in the trailer to a movie I'll never watch.

Atoms For Peace – That was a lot less annoying than most Radiohead because all the experimentation is in service of a rhythm that grabbed me right away. Worth another listen.

Dropkick Murphys, Tinashe, UB40 – Coronavirus, take me now!
