Re: Weekend Tracking (10/23)
BOM's weekend estimates
1 Paranormal Activity $22,000,000
2 Saw VI $14,800,000
3 Where the Wild Things Are $14,420,000
4 Law Abiding Citizen $12,713,000
5 Couples Retreat $11,097,000
6 Astro Boy $7,017,000
7 The Stepfather (2009) $6,500,000
8 Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant $6,348,000
9 Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs $5,600,000
10 Zombieland $4,300,000
11 Amelia $4,025,000
Saw 6 falls even harder than expected, I wonder if Saw 7 will be the last one we'll see. Not a good weekend for the new releases. Most of the other films had minimal falls from last weekend, except WTWTAT.

Yes! This means Saw VII will probably only open to $10M, 3D or not. And the demise of Saw altogether, finally.

Re: Weekend Tracking (10/23)
Wow. The studios need to stop thinking that its summer. The past three weekends in a row almost every movie has been way lower on the actuals than the estimates.
Saw VI's opening weekend was less than Saw III, IV, and V's opening days. I don't know why they would still make a 7th one. Also bad for Where the Wild Things Are, Astro Boy, and Cirque du Freak. Michael Jackson will probably kill a lot of the movies in the top ten. And G.I. Joe is finally over $150 million.

Well, the 7th one is already planned and probably already started. It's the 8th one that'll be in trouble now...JayEye wrote:Wow. The studios need to stop thinking that its summer. The past three weekends in a row almost every movie has been way lower on the actuals than the estimates.

I think This Is It will have a huge first day then tail off, just like Miley cyrus's concert movie

Re: Weekend Tracking (10/23)
This should probably be in the next tracking thread but I'll mention it anyway:
The Weinstein Company is reissuing August's flop Halloween II on Friday in time for Halloween weekend. Honestly, I don't know why.
Also despite earlier news that it would be in 3-D, Michael Jackson's This Is It will be screened in all theatres flat. This was confirmed by director Kenny Ortega, as he claimed that it was never intended to be in 3-D in the first place.

Hannah Montana's Concert movie rose 51% on Saturday and then fell only 28% on Sunday and did solid throughout its whole first week.undeadmonkey wrote:I think This Is It will have a huge first day then tail off, just like Miley cyrus's concert movie

Re: Weekend Tracking (10/23)
H2 is coming back to theaters? Oh God, please....that movie was terrible. Do they think that just because the holiday it's centered around is coming up that people will go see a movie they didn't see two months ago? The Weinsteins must be the laughing stock oh Hollywood with the retard decisions they make.
I just found out so far my theater has sold out the IMAX midnight and 2 450+ seat theatres for the midnight of This Is It. Looks like the first day will be pretty damn big.
