In some unexpected news, it looks like Rust is going to get finished after filming was shut down a year ago. I guess the production company isn't expecting any convictions or significant legal penalties.

For some bizarre reason, we're getting a Phil Robertson biopic. The Blind (because Rich Evangelical Swamp Trash is too on the nose) has been scheduled by its producers for 9/22/2023 but is without a distributor (Fathom Events seems like the best bet for a distributor, as this kind of thing is their bread and butter).

And another "I bet you weren't expecting this to happen" announcement: we're getting a raunchy musical adaptation of the computer game Oregon Trail. This just sounds like a bad idea on so many levels (and wasn't there already a Funny or Die sketch making fun of the idea?).

Remember Flint Strong, that project Universal started but had to shelve due to COVID and it looked like it would never get finished? Well, MGM picked up the project and managed to complete it for a release next year. I was convinced this would become a Peacock original.

The Matilda remake, now titled Roald Dahl's Matilda: The Musical, hits Netflix on December 9th. The UK, where it's getting a wide theatrical release, gets it two weeks earlier.

Netflix decided they'd like to make some money for once and are allowing AMC, Regal and Cinemark to show Glass Onion from November 23-29th. No clue just how well it will fare, but I'm personally thrilled that I'll be able to see it on the big screen.

I knew it was going to go to theatres. Knives Out played so long near me that it only left my area because of COVID. It might have played into the summer had a global pandemic not closed theatres.

And I have to imagine some other chains join in as it would be a moneymaker, Netflix or not.

Focus has moved up the wide expansion of The Fabelmans but It's the 80's, err, I mean Armageddon Time to November 4th. Funny that Universal moved it away from The Fabelmans' limited opening, as I'm sure more than a few people would have thought they were the same movie.

Looks like Michael Mann's Ferrari is finally getting made, as it has begun production. Unfortunately, it's now starring Adam Driver as Ferrari and with the exception of Penelope Cruz, consists of second and third choices (this was going to star Hugh Jackman and Noomi Rapace a few years back). STX is producing the film so who knows if it gets a big release or gets sold to streaming.

Looks like Wonder Woman 3's happening. Patty Jenkins has finished the first draft of the script and is now awaiting approval from Warner Bros. to greenlight the project and fine-tune the script as development goes on. I was sure that Jenkins would never work with Warner Bros. again after the battles over Wonder Woman 1984 but it's also possible that the Rogue Squadron cancellation was in the works for some time and the script was written while waiting for word to be official.

Meanwhile, it looks like Superman's going to be in Black Adam, which makes this both Suicide Squad 4 (yes, the first one counts even though The Suicide Squad was basically a bloodier remake of it) and connects to Justice League's events. Speculation came from recent comments on Dwayne Johnson's Instagram, where he makes unsubtle hints about a certain costumed hero appearing in the third act. Or it might just be Batfleck, who is somehow set to appear in more upcoming DC films as Bruce Wayne than Robert Pattinson (has anyone heard about anything related to the sequel to The Batman since the Discovery sale?).
