A small flurry of notable dates dropped today:
-The long-delayed James DeMonaco project This is the Night will hit PVOD next Tuesday.

-Swan Song-a sci-fi drama starring Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris, Awkwafina and Glenn Close which Apple seems to be positioning as their potential big fall awards contender-will be released on December 17th.

-Olivia Wilde's sophomore directorial effort Don't Worry Darling has been dated for September 23rd, 2022.

I wonder how many people will confuse Swan Song with the Udo Kier comedy that came out recently.

Speaking of Apple, Finch will arrive on November 5th.

It looks like Netflix has found a way to make Bright 2 happen as the anime Bright: Samurai Soul arrives on October 12th.

Meanwhile, the second series of Welcome to the Blumhouse, previously known as Blumhouse of Horrors, on Prime Video will be presented as a pair of Grindhouse-like double feature titles sometime next month. No word on whether they will be releasing the long-finished Run Sweetheart Run around the same time (maybe they dropped it and it's getting released the same way This is the Night will?).

Run Sweetheart Run is still At Amazon, but for reasons that are beyond my understanding, they're reportedly holding it until next year.

Paul Thomas Anderson's latest has an official title: Licorice Pizza. Now before you question the seemingly-odd combination of words, it's a reference to an old record store chain that was big in the 70's. MGM is probably hoping now it doesn't get confused with the mountain of rock-themed movies not named Bohemian Rhapsody that have flopped over the years.

And My Son, planned as an October release, hits Peacock tomorrow and will bypass theatres.

Looks like Warner Bros. dropped Christopher Nolan after Tenet flopped. Universal is going to be producing his next one, a biopic on J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Now I must wonder how close it will be to the truth and how much of it with just be Nolan thinking audiences will fall for his tricks again.

I would say it's the other way around - Nolan, annoyed at limited windows, shopped around for the best theatrical deal. Even if Tenet did underwhelm financially, it would be insane to drop someone like him

Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin hits Paramount+ on 10/29/2021. Between being a zombie franchise and this one being from the director of Underwater, should we have any expectations for this one?

So I'm guessing that not only does it bring back the ghost of Katie, the script absolutely hates her with a passion as well.

A24 will be releasing The Humans on November 24th both theatrically and on Showtime. I have to wonder how AMPAS will determine its awards eligibility if it were to get such notice.

Open Road is going back to the Liam Nesson action movie well. They just acquired Blacklight-his latest collaboration with Honest Thief director Mark Williams and will release it on February 11, 2022.

Was anyone aware that Warner Bros. went ahead with the third Fantastic Beasts movie? Because it's arriving on 4/15/2022 and Mads Mikkelsen is now playing Johnny Depp's character, making it three actors in three movies that have played that role.
