I think that Last Night In Soho will move as well, probably to the 1st. I would have thought they wouldn't have put it a week after Halloween, but I think the potential will be limited at the box office despite likely great reviews.

After The Sparks Brothers bombed, I wouldn't be surprised if Focus reduced its marketing budget on the film and opened in fewer theatres. The whole thing just looks like Bad Times at the El Royale with time travel.

At some point, we're going to stop going gaga over Edgar Wright movies solely because he made them. He needs to be kept in control but Universal never will.

That's the movie I was most reminded of when I saw the preview.

STX already has a deal with Showtime and Paramount+ has been beefing up their library lately, reaching a deal with Epix recently (assuming how long they remain). It wouldn't be surprising if they eventually made Showtime titles available without needing to pay extra for them, allowing titles from other labels such as A24 to be on the standard Paramount+ tier.

Meanwhile, I was sure Violence of Action would be sold off. It seems like something Netflix or Amazon would pay out the ass for.

So is Lionsgate going all in on trying to out-Jesus Sony now? Meanwhile, it makes me wonder what happened to Praise This, that religious comedy Universal was going to release last year but basically shelved as nothing's been heard about it in over a year. I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix bought it at this point.

Between all these religious movies coming out again, it's time for someone brave filmmaker to do what the studios refuse to do and make a satire about Evangelicalism. It's time to finally stop letting these people get away with everything. Same thing with the men's rights idiots that got their damn Snydercut after bullying Warner Bros. to do so.

With the success of The Righteous Gemstones on HBO and another notable megachurch satire set to shoot in the near future (Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul-which has Sterling K. Brown and Regina Hall in the lead roles), I think the door is wide open for someone to make a project like that. Satirizing religion isn't nearly as taboo as it used to be and it goes without saying that Evangelicals are the ripest target to receive that treatment.

In what shouldn't have come as a surprise, Downton Abbey 2 has been pushed to 3/18/2022 (from 12/22/2021). Focus has also pushed Last Night in Soho to Halloween weekend.

On September 3rd, we get to see if the Cinderella story has fully been exhausted as Amazon releases the Camilla Cabello version onto Prime. Should do well with little girls who loved those Cinderella Story sequels but probably not so well with others.

The Comeback Trail lost its date again. At this point, I'll be surprised if it's not sold off.

Pixar will return to US theatres on 3/11/2022 with Turning Red, about a girl who turns into a red panda whenever she gets excited. So pretty much Luca but without water.

I take back what I said about the Fear Street sequels being unnecessary as After We Fell, the third installment of the zombie franchise that is After, comes out September 30th. And a fourth one is coming out next year.

Who actually watches these?
