The Man from Toronto will now open on 1/14/2022. Any bets on if this date sticks?

Remember Ema, which was released on MUBI for a day last year to qualify for Oscars before completely disappearing? Music Box has finally scheduled a general release for 8/6/2021.

Also, I found that a new film from Neill Blomkamp, Demonic, will be released by IFC on 8/20/2021.

All my life I've felt like I had a good knowledge on which films existed and what was in the can on the film planet, but the last has totally changed that. I feel like I don't know anything anymore with all those changes, films disappearing and reappearing, I'm kinda lost.

As it's probably known by now, Pacific Theatres is officially no more. No bankruptcy filing (that we know of, but it would seem to be a Chapter 7 filing if the case), just a simple "we quit" announcement.

It's especially of note in that Pacific owned the Cinerama Dome, which is protected by the National Registry of Historic Places. I wonder if Netflix tries to rescue it like they did the Egyptian.

Meanwhile on a more positive note, Wrath of Man will be getting an IMAX run.

Same. I've honestly tried to not pay too much attention to it because I feel it would be frustrating to try to keep up but once leagues fire up again, I plan on doing a full dive. I'm sure more will slip through my research this way but it is what it is I suppose.

Yeah, it feels like preparing the next draft, when it comes back, is gonna take twice the time it usually took in researching. And when I say twice, I mean three or four times. Or five times.

Sony has scheduled 12 Mighty Orphans, a football movie with Luke Wilson and Robert Duvall, for a 6/18/2021 date, of all places.

Sony has also scheduled a new film directed by Billy Crystal, Here Today, for a 5/7/2021 bow.

Downton Abbey 2 is coming this Christmas. Does nothing seem to die anymore?

Didn't think MGM would schedule Cyrano before Dog, especially considering that the latter has an MPA rating and might be of interest in that it's Channing Tatum's first live-action film in four years.

Also, I have to imagine Samaritan's getting delayed, as filming only finished in December and it probably still needs some post-production work.

After seemingly disappearing into no man's land, Dream Horse has finally gotten a new 5/21/2021 date. It seems like it will follow the current Bleecker Street strategy of semi-wide theatrical followed by VOD a few weeks later (June 11th is the scheduled VOD bow).

Meanwhile, in "why?" news, Fatima, which flopped back in August and is currently on Netflix, is returning to theatres on May 7th. I thought COVID had killed the niche religious cinema market but I guess it hasn't yet.

Vivo is the latest Sony project to shift over to Netflix. No word on the exact release date, but Netflix confirmed this morning that it will be apart of its summer movie slate.

On the theatrical front, Sony has moved Escape Room 2 up from 1/3/22 to 7/16/21. It's an interesting move because they also currently have Cinderella scheduled on the same date, so we'll see what happens with that one.

Cinderella is certainly getting pushed. Who exactly is the audience for this?

And I have to imagine Disney will push Jungle Cruise. They've been awfully quiet on this one.

Leonardo DiCaprio is looking to star in a remake of Another Round. So I guess it will be almost exactly like The Hangover but a bit more intellectual.
