Even though it's supposed to be the last one, Ends probably would have made far less than Kills anyway.

The Ryan Reynolds Christmas Carol update ended up happening. Spirited hits Apple TV+ near the end of the year and I bet it will nothing more than yet another Ryan Reynolds plays himself project that ends up getting likes solely because people aren't tired of Ryan Reynolds yet.

That's an interesting release date for the House Party remake/reboot.

I have to wonder what tone they are going for with Evil Dead Rise. Is it supposed to be a horror-comedy like the latter two Raimi films, or is it going to have the serious tone of the 2013 film?
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

Ask six, he's friends with the director.

So Warner Bros, is telling me that Batgirl is unreleasable but a sequel to The Nun is worth making?

If they haven't gotten their insurance payout, I hope whomever is charge at the insurance company tells Warner Bros. that they have to release it. Besides, I'm sure it's better than Discovery's DC plans, which I'm sure is just going to be the same plans Warner Bros. had during the AOL days: a Batman movie, a Superman movie, and nothing else as the executives are scared of trying anything different.

As Aquaman, I bet that's going to get a lot of reshoots. I can't really think of any other reason for its delay.

Lee's been sworn to secrecy on anything Evil Dead. I've seen him do straight horror (his debut feature) but I worked with him in a horror comedy as well, so could be either.

Update: I dropped him a congratulatory message and snuck in that sneaky question. He said it's more hard-core horror but it goes OTT which gives it a certain levity.

Which makes me think of the first film.

I saw a report last night where I found that as Warner Bros. has shed $3 billion by shelving Batgirl and removing all their cartoons from HBO Max (among other things), the company has lost $20 billion in value. I guess Discovery has never heard the term "spend money to make money".

Meanwhile, Crunchyroll, which WarnerMedia sold to Sony to shed debt, had the top movie at the box office this weekend.

Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, one of the more notable Toronto titles last year that left without distribution, will be released on September 30th. Saban, in a rare case of them getting a movie with good critical response, is distributing.

It looks like the extended No Way Home reissue is part of an industry-wide celebration on Saturday called National Cinema Day. All tickets will be $3 and some chains will even be doing discounted concession items. Also, a special trailer reel of fall releases produced by the MPA studios and some of the top indie labels will be screened for one day. Apparently, more things that haven't been announced are planned (I could see a major studio sneak previewing a movie or a recently restored film besides the already-scheduled 3-D conversion of Jaws screening).

If successful, this may be a yearly event.

One of the National Cinema Day events is a wide reissue of the 1958 version of The Blob. I knew something was happening with this one when I saw a coming soon poster at one of my local theatres. I figured it was just going to be a one-off at only that theatre.

Open Road has picked up... wait for it: the Liam Nesson-led noir mystery Marlowe and dated it for a December 2nd release.
