Given how it feels like A24's trying to go mainstream, I get the feeling we'll be seeing The Savageist and The Rektist coming after.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Hellboy: The Crooked Man is going straight-to-VOD on October 8th. Not surprised as there was no positive buzz on it, despite Mike Mignola insisting it was the best adaptation of the character.
In other news, Paddington 4 is being planned for a 2027 date. Not sure if Sony will distribute this one in the US.
And Oh, Canada is opening on December 6th, likely getting dumped into a few markets before hitting VOD and physical early next year.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
It looks like Warner Bros. is holding off on the Max debut on Super/Man for a bit as the documentary will be getting a traditional run on October 11th. It's supposed to be wide but that could just mean a super-saturation run in the top 30-40 markets, a la Roadside wide.

Utopia (theatrical) and Mubi (streaming) are teaming up to release Alex Ross Perry's Pavements in the US. I have to wonder how this is going to be sold, as it mixes documentary and narrative elements and has the actual members of Pavement interacting with the actors playing them.

After all of the issues this one was having in pre-production, I was sure Paramount was going to cancel the project and do a complete reboot instead.

Daniel Day-Lewis is coming out of retirement. He will be starring in Anemone, the directorial debut from Daniel's son, which will begin filming tomorrow for a release next year. Focus is distributing.

I was wondering why the dial on my Nepometer is spinning round and round.

I think it's been spinning non-stop as Emma Roberts somehow keeps getting work.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Similar to what they did with Women Talking and American Fiction over the past couple years after they earned raves on the festival circuit, Amazon is moving Nickel Boys to December. It'll now begin its rollout on December 13th in NYC before expanding to LA on the 20th. No word on when it will go wide yet, but it if follows the Women Talking/American Fiction blueprint, it won't be until January.
Elsewhere, Briarcliff is continuing to dip their toes in the waters of controversy as they've officially picked up Magazine Dreams and set it for a TBD QB1 2025 release.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Briarcliff is trying to become what Quiver was trying to become a few years back, I see. It didn't work for them.
And a few other things I saw:
- MGM is making a Voltron movie. I guess Amazon is planning this as their next big franchise.
- Tobin Bell is returning for Saw XI. So I guess Lionsgate is going the prequel/midquel route again.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Did we really need a remake of The Running Man? And did it need to star Glen Powell? He is such a bland actor but he keeps lucking into big projects.
