Mother/Android, starring everyone's favorite young "I'll take any project that pays" actor, hits Hulu on December 17th.

I was sure Netflix would take it, as it seems right up their alley. Meanwhile, has A24 ever handled a film aimed towards a younger audience?
No. Hell, I don't even think they've distributed more than a few movies with a PG rating.

A third installment of Trolls that I'm sure not many asked for is coming on 11/17/2023. Universal has also scheduled an untitled Blumhouse project for 6/24/2022 (possibly a sequel to something?).

Netflix has picked up the Power Rangers reboot out of turnaround from Paramount. It is planned to be a franchise with the creator of The End of the Fucking World attached to write and direct.

Bolstered by excellent reviews and a solid opening, Licorice Pizza will be sneak previewed in select markets on Saturday night (some showings in 70mm) while holding onto its theatres during its second weekend.

Rumble has been pulled from the release schedule. I imagine this will be a Paramount+ exclusive now.

Your assumption is correct. It's premiering on the 15th.

Disney somehow found a way to keep Ice Age going. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, a new spinoff film with Simon Pegg, arrives on Disney+ January 28th.

Shawn Levy is remaking Riders of Justice for Lionsgate. I'm sure it's going to be awful, even with the original's director, Anders Thomas Jensen, adapting his own script into English.

It seems like Netflix is the place for speculative fiction films. Home Team, an Adam Sandler-produced comedy where Kevin James plays Sean Payton during his suspension from the NFL as a result of the Bountygate revelations, hits Netflix on January 28th.

And it looks like Clerks III really is a thing, as it just got an MPA rating. No date yet but I will venture a guess that will be see it coming early next year, most likely as a day-and-date title.

Meanwhile, Thirteen Lives, Ron Howard's next film which has the same story and producers as the recent documentary The Rescue, looks to have been scheduled by MGM for 4/15/2022.

"Speculative fiction" is an interesting way to describe Home Team. Feels like loose truth would be a more apt way to put it since Payton did really help coach his son's team during the year he was suspended from the NFL.

But seeing how Adam Sandler produced it, I bet any shred of truth gets thrown out in favor of cheap laughs.

Also, should be really be making Payton a sympathetic figure, especially considering his role in the whole Bountygate situation?

No, he definitely shouldn't. I'm actually expecting it to more closely resemble something like Here Comes the Boom than a typical Sandler-backed comedy, but I wouldn't be surprised if it tried to frame his time coaching his son as some kind of massive redemption for Bountygate- which would be kind of gross.

Following the leads of Paramount and Warner Brothers, Universal will begin putting their titles on Peacock in as little as 45 days starting next year. It should be noted that this will not affect their current PVOD after at least 18 days of theatrical release practice.

In other Universal news, they've dated The Fabelmans for November 23, 2022

I have to imagine they'll either delay or rethink The 355's release strategy. This is opening next month and I don't think anything's been released for it since it was delayed a year.

Also, you forgot to mention that The Fabelmans is Spielberg's next film, which is semi-autobiographical. It looks like the kid from Pete's Dragon is playing Steven's counterpart, the girl from Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood plays his sister (her real-life counterpart co-wrote Big), Paul Dano and Michelle Williams play his parents, and Seth Rogen plays his uncle. With Tony Kushner co-writing the script with Steven, it looks like to be a big awards contender next year.
