But Banks, to bring back up a question that never seems to be answered: if she's such a draw, why did Sweeney's next two movies flop? Yes, Sweeney has fans but they mostly seem to be limited to people on the Internet. The Internet doesn't dictate general success. If it did, Aubrey Plaza would leading $100 million box office hits and Bob's Burgers would have better Nielsens than Yellowstone.

And does sex appeal really sell? Ever since the Internet became accessible to the average person, people haven't needed to pay $12 to get hot when they can find it for free on a torrent. Yes, there are exceptions (Fifty Shades of Grey, which ironically was initially published for free as Twilight fanfic) but more often than not, it's going to be pirated or bought as a monthly subscription.

I don't think you can blame Sweeney on the failure of Madame Web. That film was destined to fail to moment that trailer came out. It's on the film-makers and, perhaps, the deadpan performance of Dakota Johnson. If Sweeney was in the lead that may have helped a little, who knows.

It's true she can't yet guarantee success, like a lot of emerging actors from her generation. But imagine if it wasn't her in Immaculate. It would be put out by IFC and have made a few 100k at most. I suspect she will become a draw eventually, as much as one can be for films these days.

Also, I think you conflat sex appeal with pornography. They're not the same thing.

I'll take They Listen. Feels like the right time of the draft to take a Screen Gems/Blumhouse horror film that's been shelved for over a year and dumped into the back of August.

I'll go with With Love. Its current Super Bowl Weekend release date isn't great but Ke Huy Quan should make for a great action star, Jonathan Eusebio has the potential to become the next veteran stunt coordinator to make a smooth transition to directing and both of the prior low-ish budgeted 87North titles Universal has released have been modest successes.

They Listen With Love sounds like a forthcoming James Bond movie.

And both films are very sensible picks at this stage.

Dog Man, however, is in prep so probably won't make its Jan date, but could still come out for this season, and if it does, it could be a solid little earner.

Terrifier 3 is a good pick.

Eden is pretty, pretty risky, and could have been held off til round 11 or 12. I just hope Netflix picks it up, just to ruin you ;)

Terrifier 3, depending on if chains will pick up an unrated movie again, could hit $15-20 million, maybe more if they move it closer to Christmas. Not too big on Cineverse opening a Christmas movie before Halloween.

Back to Black and its round 8, i'm going to take Fast X Part 2, maybe theyll film and release it on time. Slim chance, but if it does happen, i'll get a nice boost.

I'll go with Levon's Trade and hope that Statham and Ayer can make some more January action movie magic

We’re already into gross territory. I’m about to take off on a flight but to avoid delaying this, I guess I’ll take The Bikeriders. I don’t trust Focus at all to get more than $20-30M out of a release but the cast is good, reviews are solid and it filmed close to me in Cincinnati. Maybe it’ll leg out a decent total.

A Chicago movie that wasn't filmed in Chicago. That doesn't happen too often.

And when I see the title Levon's Trade, I think of it sounding like Cogan's Trade, which was adapted as Killing Them Softly, but with The Band's Levon Helm in the Brad Pitt role.

To get the groups opinion - It's Thursday night and I'm good taking Tarot - but it's not my turn yet. I just figure we're gonna run out of movies and so I'm cool taking this crappy looking horror as one of mine. Or i'm fine letting it slide into the oblivion.
