The problem with picking on the ends is that you don’t really get to wait around to take something like Little Women at the back of the 6th because there’s no way it makes it that far.
I did the “guaranteed” $75M thing last year and took a film I really didn’t want with The Predator and watched it limp to $50M... so I decided to gamble a bit. A lot of the stuff near the top of my board here has questionable quality to it and audiences have been a lot more selective lately.
Could be the worst pick of the round but man does it have the ingredients to succeed... then again, so did First Man and it almost got me demoted.

Still think Black Widow is a real risk, if it was done or at least filming already, id understand. It probably won't be very heavy in effects, but I also don't think marvel is going to open their phase 4 with black widow origin movie that took place before iron man 2.
Re: 2019-20 Full Year Draft Thread (Division A)
FWIW, I would say Black Widow is in production. Cast and announcements about the camera rolling tend to happen a few weeks into the shoot, particularly when it comes to high-profile hush-hush flicks like this. I'd say it's well into its shoot by now with post starting in the Autumn. Might be just enough time to get it there, depending on VFX (as a rule of thumb, FX-heavy big budget films tend to take a year of post). However, UDM, your points about starting Phase 4 like this is interesting, and it's why I was leaving it for a later round.

Morning all, sorry for the wait. Yes definitely the round where you hope to find the surprise hit. I don't think this will be the biggest of the round but I'm a little surprise this bad mother-(watch you mouth) is still here. I think it gets to 75 million just on attitude alone. Shaft

Actually during the press tour for Hellboy, David Harbour, who's been cast in Black Widow, said the movie would only start shooting in June.numbersix wrote:FWIW, I would say Black Widow is in production. I'm with UDM, I wouldn't have touched Black Widow, at least not in the first 10 rounds.
Chances are even if, by miracle, it really is dated to end of April, which I really don't think will happen, the film will be much more low-key than most Marvel films, more likely some sort of spy action spinoff that would result in an opening weekend closer to the lowest of Marvel films, like 50 or 60 million. So even if it opens end of April, which is unlikely, it won't bring that much money for its hypothetical one week-end run for the draft, and there were, during rounds as early as 5, much better and safer and potentially bigger films than Black Widow. In my humble opinion.

In Round the Fitfh, I shall peaceably select "The Angry Birds Movie 2".
For the Sixth Round, I'll swipe "Dora and the Lost City of Gold".

Bah, two excellent choices at this stage, Nico, and sadly the next two films on my list. Bravo, and blargh, sir.
