LOL, Nah. "Midway" could bomb to the tune of $60M, after all. I don't think it will, but, it might. May the best remake win!

I think Midway tops out at $30 million. Maybe if there was a time travel element in the story involving the ship the main character had named after him...

Wow... That sort of bomb would end Roland Emmerich's career as a big-budget director, the same way "Jupiter Rising" ended The Wachowskis', "Fant4stic Four" ended Josh Trank's, and "The Mortal Engines" probably ended Peter Jackson's.
It would also end my slate as a going concern. :/

I think They Shall Not Grow Old got Jackson out of movie jail. It outgrossed Mortal Engines in a third of the theatres and got great reviews.
He's now working on that Beatles documentary.

Hard to pitch in the dirt with The Beatles. I just hope he's not the next Robert Zemeckis.

Also Jackson didn't direct Mortal Engines.
Re: 2019-20 Full Year Draft Thread (Division A)
It was sold around his name though, as he co-wrote and produced it.

Sorry, just dealing with the morning family stuff. Not sold on much at the moment, so I am going to go with Black Widow.

Morning folks,
As Surf prepares to hop on his ice-board, just looking at the last few picks. Charlie's Angels looks like a bomb to me. It's a very out-of-date concept and the cast aren't charming enough to compensate. Doctor Doolittle, however, should be good for a floor of $75m what with Iron Man in the lead role.
Little Women. Goddamn you, Spectre. Goddamn you all, you guys have gotten so much more ballsy this year, snapping up wildcards like they're your wife's free-passes. I really really wanted Little Women but just couldn't go for round 5, not when there are still guaranteed $75m films on the table. Little Women could be huge what with Gerwig's past success with the excellent Lady Bird, but if it even gets moderately-liked reviews it could struggle.
So I stuck with Peter Rabbit 2. The first looked awful but managed over $100m, and the sequel should come within a hare's breath of that, with no competition til Onward (unless Disney actually do something with Feb 14th - then I'm screwed).
Kingsman 3 is a solid choice, through the lower performance of the second film makes me thing $75m is its ceiling. Zombieland 2 is a great pick, and may actually outdo the first because of the audience it gained and the stars having a bigger profile now.
Black Widow is a risk. While Avengers is pretty much invincible, Natasha is not, and Disney may not risk an April opening. And even if they did, this doesn't feel like a must-see Marvel movie so it may open rather low for a MCU film.
