Re: 2015-16 Full Year Draft Thread (Division A)
THIS IS THE TOUGHEST PICK IM GONNA HAVE TO MAKE ALL DRAFT.AHHHh! I really want to pick one movie but my head says to go with The Walk] based on gravity/ gone girl social network older crowd movie success of this release date and the track record of its director. Lets hope this isn't his first box office bust ever and the other movie I'm thinking of doesn't explode into a huge hit that i think it could be.

If I hadn't gone with Everest, I would have taken The Walk. I was very close. Good luck. Zemeckis has been solid over his career to say the least. It was his recent effort with Flight that made me almost take it.

I'd have picked it over either of your two picks Empire.... so who is trying to lose their built in advantage?
Last time Depp played a gangster, it made 97 million, and I bet this is going to be a better film.
I may also have that Boston bias going though...

Also, The Town made pretty much $100M with the same release date, so it's not that bad of a pick.
I actually think The Walk is a much riskier one.

Oh, I fully admit to taking some risks, but I feel like I am looking forward. Donnie Brasco was what, '97 with Pacino carrying him? And a Poltergeist, a reboot with leads who have never carried a film. I hope it plays well, but I'm not convinced.Geezer wrote:I'd have picked it over either of your two picks Empire.... so who is trying to lose their built in advantage?

Well, at least your city isn't rioting. Seems they got that out of their system centuries ago.

You do know I'm just ribbing you, right? Except for the part about your lousy picks.
I am fully prepared to be wrong, though. At that time I will gladly wipe the egg from my face and eat it because I like eggs, even though it's been on my face and probably has a few nose hairs and some eye gunk in it. I just consider that garnish.

We are quibbling over films that are likely to make 40-75 million dollars.
I was referring to Public Enemies, not Donnie Brasco.
The Town is another nice comparison, at least I hope that can be the ceiling, but if it gets to 50 I'll be satisfied, because I don't think much outside of "How big is Star Wars" is going to matter.
Same with Poltergeist (though I would have much preferred Maze Runner, it went one before me and I think that was a tier drop off). It has a high floor. I don't need to take risks, and neither do you. We have the big guns. Everyone else has to shoot for the moon. I just need to take solid contributors and avoid a lot of films moving off their dates.
It's pretty funny you mention it, because I was actually n Baltimore over the weekend for the series with the Red Sox. We weren't allowed to leave the ballpark for a while Saturday night. Scary stuff. But at least we were out of there before the shit really hit the fan yesterday.
And I don't mind the ribbing, but I'm always going to give it back. Especially to the one other player with a gun big enough to beat me.

I think the film I really want will still be available in the next round, so I'll take the $75M guaranteed in...
