That would be a great tribute. Do you have an exact topic in mind?

We should also name the championship after Shryke. The Shrykespeare Memorial Championship Trophy for the Yearlong Box-Office Draft League. I'm sure some of you can create a nickname or trophy design or something.

He was big on 80s nostalgia, so maybe an 80s movie countdown?transformers2 wrote: ↑May 5th, 2023, 10:38 amThat would be a great tribute. Do you have an exact topic in mind?

These are both excellent ideas.

Re: 2023-24 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
I actually got to me meet Shryke a few years back. My sister moved to Scottsdale not too long ago, so one of the last times I went to see her I reached out to Shryke as well to see if he wanted to grab dinner. It was a blast. We met at some classic, hole-in-the-wall Italian place on the north side of Phoenix. I got to hear him talk in person about his books, what music he was listening to at the time, the league. It was so fun to meet the guy, truly a pleasure. I figured I'd get the chance to do that a few more times in future trips down there. A good reminder to not always count on what you can do in the future, but rather what you can do right now. My whole family knows I have this weird group of movie-buff friends because of this game, and so much of that I owe to him. Cheers to you, Patrick, and prayers for your wife and family as they mourn your passing.

For my next pick I'll take Anyone But You and hope that it's actually a real movie and not just an internet rumor.
Re: 2023-24 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
Sony will make sure it's a real movie. They desperately want Sydney Sweeney to be a star.

Great ideas, guys. Naming the competition after Shryke and honoring him with a countdown he would have loved, this would be a great tribute.

I agree (though I'm not sure how much I can contribute to an 80's movie countdown).Spectre wrote: ↑May 5th, 2023, 11:34 amAgree, I love both those ideasChienfantome wrote: ↑May 5th, 2023, 11:24 amGreat ideas, guys. I still am finding it hard to find the words to say about this. I hope he rests in peace.

Love this idea. Will be fun to revisit films from my childhood (and many of ours) and see if they stand up. There was a time when The Naked Gun was my favourite film of all time, can you imagine?JohnErle wrote: ↑May 5th, 2023, 10:43 amHe was big on 80s nostalgia, so maybe an 80s movie countdown?transformers2 wrote: ↑May 5th, 2023, 10:38 amThat would be a great tribute. It seems Screen forgot to pick when he was here earlier.

Someone tell Screen that Shryke is up there, somewhere, smacking you until you pick in the draft. It's what he would have wanted

Sorry to keep you waiting - I will take Ordinary Angels.
