Aww, don't tease the old man. He may slip a disc if you aggravate him into retaliation...

While we're sharing stories, I was 13. It happened during geometry class, but I wasn't aware of it until band rehearsal 2 periods later.

You were only 13? Always pegged you as a bit older than me, not 6 years younger. I was in uni, just going to class when someone mentioned it, I thought it was a joke at first. You know, who would fly a plane into a tower? Obviously now we know who would...

I get that a lot, actually. When people guess my age (like when I started my last new job) the guesses are usually 4-5 years over.

I too was 13 when 9/11 happened, walking to 4th period French. I think it was only like the 3rd or 4th day of school, plus I was a freshman at the time. Whole rest of the school day was spent watching news coverage in every class.

We (the Senior class) had a guest speaker who, if I remember right, was an ex-football player and ex-drug addict. So I was in the auditorium and the principal and higher tenured teachers came out and talked to everyone.

I was 11 when 9/11 happened. The school thought it was a good idea to not tell anyone about it. Instead, we were told there was a gas shortage. And when I got home, the only thing on TV that wasn't news coverage was Full House.

I know, Rob, what September 11 is, you don't need to tell me
You guys were young ! I was 19 and hanging around in my mom's flat, doing pretty much nothing that day, until my mom came home and shouted "It's the 3rd World War !!!"

Did you go into a bomb shelter and then lock your mother in it after a few minutes?

Almost ;) But at the last minute, I decided to put the TV on before doing that, to know exactly what was going on.
