Thank you for helping me discover that I have a concussion!
I may have had one the night I watched it.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

With the new year looming, and since I haven't seen enough 2023 films to participate in the annual RS Awards show, I thought I'd whip up a quick list of the 10 best older films I saw in 2023. I finally signed up for the Criterion Channel when they offered a Black Friday sale, so I'll have lots of ac...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

How do you want to handle honourable mentions?

I've finalized my list and I'm about to start sending you stuff, but I'll hold off on posting the bonus tracks for now if you want to post them all at once.

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

I'm going to try to send you as much as I can between now and Jan 3rd, because come January I'll be deep in pre-production on my short which shoots in early February, so I'll probably be very busy and won't be around much for the customary banter. I'll try to listen to everyone else's picks, but it ...

I loved Fury Road, but all that terrible CGI is so disappointing.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

Ghost stories on Christmas Eve are a wonderful old English tradition, but a vampire movie on Christmas Day does seem odd, or genius counter-programming.

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

Cool. My Spotify Wrapped dropped today to remind of what I actually listened to the most this year, so I started working on a rough list that I'll fiddle with until we start in January.

Sounds good. I look forward to introducing you all to a young, up-and-coming band by the name of Sparks.

Re: ShrykeVerse Top Movies of the 80's: Collective Top 30

That was a remarkably close finish for the #1 spot. I thought if anything was going to beat The Shining it would be Empire, but Die Hard made a strong push at the end. It's a ton of fun, just not something I'm emotionally attached to in any way.

Re: ShrykeVerse Top Movies of the 80's Countdown

Now that you mention it, the fact that no one picked Dead Poets Society is a bit surprising, even though it was a very guy-friendly list. Throw a few women into the mix and Dead Poets Society probably would have appeared, and The Princess Bride would have ranked much higher. I'm a bit surprised Six ...

Re: ShrykeVerse Top Movies of the 80's Countdown

Shryke, if you're listening, as the only other member of this group old enough to remember coming of age in the 80s, it's no surprise that you'd have The Breakfast Club as your #1. It's also no surprise that you'd have lesser-known picks like Real Genius, The Secret Of UHF, and NIMH. Of all your pic...

Re: ShrykeVerse Top Movies of the 80's Countdown

I was blocked from posting all day yesterday, but for some stupid reason it's all good today, so thanks Tranny for posting my #1 and my honourable mentions and also my top 30, which I forgot all about. As for StarLord, your list was a pretty straightforward group of universally beloved blockbusters ...

Re: ShrykeVerse Top Movies of the 80's Countdown

Tranny – Look at you, picking a critically acclaimed film from the Criterion Collection for your #1 instead of some sweaty, blood-splattered, testosterone-soaked action pic. And you even had a foreign language pic in your top 10! We'll make a snob out of you yet. I should probably revisit this film ...

You might as well factor them in if you've gone this far, and posting his top 30 would be nice too.
