Re: 2018-19 Full Year Slates (Division B)

I remember the movie being dumped after multiple delays - trailers for the film were out almost a year prior. I remember being suprised when the trailer for that and Hardcore Henry weren't attached with The Boy when that came out (I think that came out right before the first delay).

Re: 2018-19 Full Year Slates (Division B)

I'm sure that the untitled STX is getting pushed and I'm convinced it was intended to be Den of Thieves 2. At this point, I'm thinking Kursk will end up on Netflix or with another distributor (my best guess is that Cohen Media Group or the newly-formed company headed by former STX people gets it if...

Please discuss. https://www.showbiz411.com/2018/12/23/mary-poppins-returns-is-disneys-third-big-live-action-disaster-for-2018-with-just-31-mil-opening-weekend --Nico. I don't think so. They have completely ignored the kind of mid-budget movies they used to make through their other labels in favor o...

Re: Future Tracking From Exhibitors

And I think Happy Death Day 2U will make much less. It basically looks like the exact same film as the first but redone as a comedy. And horror comedy is often a hard sell. Also, I think the disappointing numbers on Truth or Dare might suggest this audience has gotten a bit smarter about the genre....

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Also, what's your opinion of people taking pictures of the screen during the movie? The idiot in front of me did this late in the movie and I don't understand why people think this is okay. First, it's considered a form of piracy. Second, why are you using your phone in the auditorium? People aroun...

Second Act

Slight but cute. It really doesn't do anything new, but it's somewhat entertaining.

It isn't that much different than what was advertised, as it still features the story that is shown in the marketing, it just has (predictable) twists.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Bumblebee - 6/10 Mildly entertaining 80s romp with good Transformers action and a decent job by Hailee Steinfeld in the lead role. I know this is a prequel to the entire Transformers series - ironic that this comes out now, after that series has run its course - but with Stephen Spielberg attached ...

I have been SLAMMED with new requests to join RS. In the last few days, I have activated over 30 new accounts. I know way back when we were inundated with spambots, but I could usually tell what those were because the usernames chosen were strings of incoherent letters. Some of these new ones appea...

Vox Lux may be the worst film I've ever seen in a theater - walked out after an hour. You got out just in time. It gets much, much worse. Yowch. https://tenor.com/view/homer-collar-tug-pull-anxious-gif-7812230 How do you embed a GIF? Shit. I left after the scene in the tunnel with the flashing ligh...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse More style over substance, but still enjoyable. The animation has a very unique style, but it can be overbearing. The actual story is developed well, with all of the emotional beats hitting. On the other hand, the comedic elements mostly fall flat and are often irr...

Re: Walleye's Weekly Winners - Pre-Christmas Rush!

Using that logic, the next time Bill Burr makes a movie, he'll get an A+. At least Eastwood movies are usually good. The Front Runner, on the other hand, is one of the worst movies I've seen all year (not as bad as Gringo or Vox Lux, however) and Burr's (I've never seen anything else he's done) per...

The Mule was going to have a high CinemaScore no matter what. The idiotic MRA's seem to support anything that one of their own makes.
