Re: 2019-20 Division A Waiver Wire

I should like to drop "The Hunt" (9/27) and pick up "The Last Full Measure" (10/25), s'il vous plait.

Re: 2019-20 Full Year Slates (Division A)

...Matter of fact, I don't think half the films in Round 2 will claw their way to $200M.

Meantime, Round 3 is looking pretty strong. Wouldn't surprise me if Three did nearly as much business as Two.

Re: 2019-20 Full Year Slates (Division A)

Agreed. And "Mulan" may end up with numbers roughly between those two titles, as well.

As for Round 2's biggest BUST: My money's on "MiB", tho "Joker" and "Terminator" must be considered strong contenders, as well.

[Sigh] "Midsommar"'s gonna be another disappointment.

Man, Zombpanzee's gonna bust half a billion by the end of Week 10 in the season. That's impressive.

Re: Future Tracking From Exhibitors

Agreed. "Abominable" is looking like a top-tier non-Pixar animated release. Wouldn't be surprised to see this one do $130M. A fantastic pick.

Re: Predict Your Slate! (2019-2020 Edition)

Ugh. Through three releases ("The Biggest Little Farm", "Tolkien", "UglyDolls"), I'm running a good one-third lower than my initial projections (~$27M, versus a hoped-for $38M). My Summer releases had better overperform, starting with "The Dead Don't Die". But I ain't holding my breath.

Re: Predict Your Slate! (2019-2020 Edition)

Man, I just DO NOT understand what happened with "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". It's a TERRIFIC Summer popcorn movie, better than the 2014 reboot (which was very, very good), with a frequently inspired marketing campaign and a strong cast with a quite compelling narrative. WTFF. This should be a ...

Aquamann, "The Lighthouse" looks like a brilliant late-Round pick, very cool.

Really? It has disappeared from all theaters near me, except Alamo Drafthouse. That's excellent. It needs some freaking marketing.

Wow, JAS. You did it again... "A Quiet Place 2" is scheduled for release in March 2020.

Nicely done.

Re: 2019-20 Full Year Slates (Division A)

Yeah, that is definitely NOT how "The Biggest Little Farm" plays out. They're not overwhelmed hipsters, they're (at first) neophyte farmers with a steep learning curve... One they (mostly) successfully surmount, after reasonable struggles. I highly encourage you to see the film. And, everyone. It de...

Re: 2019-20 Full Year Slates (Division A)

It doesn't even look terrible. It looks BORING. The last several "Terminator" films have been many things -- and, I think, on the whole far better than their mediocre reputations, tho never on nearly a par with the franchise's initial two entries -- but, NEVER BORING. Not one shot, not one actor, no...
