Re: Trailer: The Disaster Artist
Trust me, nothing about the making of The Room is boring. That production was a comedy of errors.

What's this, a film directed by James Franco that might be good? Alright!

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
The Hero 9/10 If there's a better performance this year than Sam Elliott's, either I haven't seen it or it doesn't exist. Brett Haley's follow-up to I'll See You in My Dreams is somewhat of a reverse of that one (this time, we have a relationship between with an older man and a younger woman) but it...

In other news, Entertainment Studios has picked up The Hurricane Heist (basically a mockbuster version of Geostorm with Toby Kebbell in ...

Re: SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 7/1
Per-theatre average this week will be just over $3,000 (and I bet a lot of theatres aren't even doing $1,000 with it). I'd say The Big Sick's run is winding down and Lionsgate made a big mistake in expanding that wide. They should have just gone to 1,000 this week and seen how things were from there.

Re: Future Tracking From Exhibitors
Artistic liberties happen all the time in so-called true stories. They'll change things around, add things that didn't happen, leave out what did, and tie it all up in a bow to get a Cinemascore up from a B+ to an A- and add $10 million to the final gross. And The Big Sick is a Judd Apatow productio...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
I get ahead of myself often and forgot to edit that. Yeah. Anyway, I wouldn't expect much of a box office result from this one. In other news, Disney will release Planes 3 on 4/12/2019. Seeing how Fire and Rescue was a box office disappointment, I definitely wasn't expecting another one for theatres...

Re: Future Tracking From Exhibitors
I saw the trailer for Home Again with Baby Driver and it's not going to do a thing. Open Road's been looking for a buyer, Reese Witherspoon fell off the A-list with Hot Pursuit, and the film has "vanity project" written all over it (had the director not been Nancy Meyers' daughter, no way it would h...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Huh. So much for lobbying to the crowd that wanted a direct sequel.
In other news, Atlas Distribution (yes, they're still around) will open 9/11 wide on September 8th. But seeing how the biggest name is Charlie Sheen, I wouldn't anything from it.

David Mamet's Redbelt as well. The fight at the end of the film is one of the best of the past decade.

Re: SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 7/1
I'm expecting Valerian to be in the 3,000 range. EuropaCorp was able to get The Circle into 3,000 and this one is much more mainstream. And I figured that Girls Trip would get 3,000. Very strong early word and the need for a feel-good comedy could allow it to surprise against Dunkirk (I'm still conv...
