Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

When Fall is Coming 8/10 Francois Ozon's newest is one of his lightest, as despite being what you've come to expect with him, it also has a message of forgiveness. Focusing on a grandmother who after accidentally poisoning her daughter from a tainted mushroom dish, befriends her friend's paroled son...

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

Him just looks like a long anti-steroids PSA to me. But then I remembered Midsommar did a similar approach in its anti-drug message. Meanwhile, the Thunderbolts* trailer I got before my showing of Sinners was the A24 parody (I think it was a parody, albeit dated as A24 is trying to be mainstream now...

Cinemascore:

Sinners: A (when's the last time a horror film had this high of a Cinemascore?)

Re: Screening The Releases - April 17th

You must question film criticism in general then as critics, especially ones from an era before they started just liking everything, have to watch things no matter what. Watch some of the really old Siskel & Ebert episodes on YouTube. They had to watch whatever came out to fill out a 30 minute episo...

Re: Screening The Releases - April 17th

It's not that big of a deal. But then again, I rarely pay more than $2 for a ticket and if I do walk-up business, it's for a non-profit theatre where I know where the money is going. Also, the people I usually see doing walk-ups are the types who go see at most five movies a year and are paying mati...

Re: Screening The Releases - April 17th

I'm surprised by Sinners' PostTrak rating. I got the feeling the slow burn nature of the film would lead some to detest it. Also, most of the people at my showing didn't stay during the credits, which led me to believe it wouldn't make $50 million for the entire run and therefore would be another ex...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Sinners 8/10 Part 90's-styled vampire movie, part drama about Delta blues, part period film about race relations in the Deep South, all a unique vision from Ryan Coogler and a return to form after the disappointing Wakanda Forever. This one is a slow burn that is bound to polarize some audiences but...

Re: Top 30 Animated Films Countdown

I say we count them. Marcel the Shell with Shoes On was a hybrid and it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

I was sure it would expand wide. I've seen a few trailers before other movies.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

The original wasn't very good so I wouldn't expect the remake to be much better.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

Eddington opens on July 18th, more than likely a wide debut.

Let's hope they don't make a Roblox movie anytime soon. They'd make the Minecraft community seem like church ladies.
