Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Totem 3/10 A girl visits her grandparents' house for the birthday of her father (or uncle, from the subtitles of the DCP I saw)...and not a whole lot else happens. The plot got astray pretty quickly as the characters have little to do and there's not a whole lot of objectives in the storyline outsid...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

That sounds a lot like Astronaut Wives Club, that one season show that David O. Russell was going to produce before ghosting the project. And seeing how it's from Greg Berlanti, it's probably going to feel like a lame network TV show in film form.

One of the three Max original films that was in release limbo, Turtles All the Way Down, has finally been scheduled for a May 2nd premiere.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

Paramount and Skydance are in talks to merge, which would effectively keep Paramount's standing as a major studio while increasing David Ellison's standing as a Hollywood player. I knew it wasn't going to be Warner Bros. going after them (I actually got downvotes on Reddit for saying that merger was...

The Ministry of...oh, what the hell, it's Guy Ritchie's latest will be getting sneak previews on April 13th.

Meanwhile, the long-delayed Flint Strong is now titled The Fire Inside.

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft

I don't. I just don't get audiences anymore. We know a lot of modern product is crap and we don't get why critics tell us everything is good but we keep accepting it. Despite what we are told, we don't want change. We are too scared to be the solution of problems and are more interested in complaini...

I missed this until just now. M. Emmet Walsh passed away on March 22nd at the age of 88.

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 4/5

Civil War won't be Alex Garland's final film. He said previously Men would be and then he announced Civil War was coming. Besides, I'm sure he'll continue trying to out-misanthrope Lars von Trier and Adam McKay by finding something else to declare evil. (Edit: he's co-directing a new film set to sta...

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft

I'm probably bowing out. It feels like the industry is solely influenced by filmbros and people on the Internet and you can't really tell any movie from the other now. You'd think Barbie would have changed things but instead of listening to the millions that embraced the themes of Barbie and helped ...

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 3/29

I'm surprised by that Wicked Little Letters number. Reviews haven't been very good and the trailer might be one of the year's worst. Nothing but in your face overacting. If not for the cast, it would have been like one of those Focus dumps from a few years back where the movie gets dumped into 200 t...

As IMAX is desperate to fill their screens, Challengers will be getting a one-week run, most likely to very empty auditoriums as the target audience watches Euphoria reruns at home.

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft

I saw almost nothing for Immaculate, which is bizarre as the theatre I usually go to promotes everything from Neon and the manager will push anything featuring a Euphoria actor (Anyone but You was still playing when Immaculate opened for some reason). I also saw almost nothing for Godzilla x Kong. O...

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 3/29

I think it's on account of nothing else being out, which would also explain the small drops on most everything else not family-friendly. I was convinced Late Night with the Devil would drop 80% after the poor response at my showing of it.
