Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 6/11

Yeah, the Karate Kid is advertising WAY more than The A-Team. That said, I am still hearing a lot of hype on The A-Team, so I do think it will go a good bit higher than $28 million. I see $43 million for The A-Team and $32 million for The Karate Kid.

Re: June 4th Weekend

Marmaduke's tracking numbers were absolutely terrible though, so it could have done worse. I had all the openers making a few million more than they did, so this weekend continues the disappointing box office streak. Next weekend could have some break-outs.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 6/4

My predictions for the openers after seeing the tracking numbers:

Killers $18 million
Get Him to the Greek $16 million
Marmaduke $13 million
Splice $9 million

Re: 5/29 Weekend

It only made $37 million for the 4-day and $51 million for the 5-day. Very bad.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 6/4

Yeah but the Beverly Hills Chihuahua trailer was really well liked by kids. I heard that song from the preview all the time. Marmaduke on the other hand, doesn't seem to draw any reaction from kids.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 6/4

I don't see Marmaduke going that high. Its got too much competition, its not being marketed very well, and it will appeal to no one outside of the kids, and they don't even know about the comic.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 5/28

So now both Sex and the City 2 and Prince of Persia will struggle to, if not miss out on, the $100 million mark. And Sex and the City 2 will make less in its opening 5-days than the original made in its first three days. Wow, it looks like the disappointment that is Shrek Forever After will end up d...

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 5/28

Well you predicted Shrek Forever After to win the weekend and it most likely will.

But this has been an awful May at the box office.

Haha yeah maybe I didn't word that right. But come on, James Cameron defies the box office, so maybe this should be considered the first non-sequel.

Alice in Wonderland breaks $1 Billion

Alice is the sixth movie to break the $1 billion barrior, and is just about to surpass The Dark Knight to be in the top 5 highest grossing movies of all time. Its the first non-sequel (other than the James Cameron movies) to go that high And Johnny Depp became the first actor with two films over the...

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 5/28

Oh crap. Shryke, are you trying to destroy the box office with your extremely accurate yet very low predictions? But really, Sex and the City 2 should be too frontloaded to open that low (even if it does open Thursday). And to answer your question about whether the films between winter and summer ar...

Re: Yet another underwhelming weekend at the box office

First of all, 2010 had the biggest January, March, and April of all time. That's not disappointing. Avatar killed all of the other movies at the beginning of the year. But there's nothing wrong with December holdovers dominating January. February was a strong month with Valentines Day, Shutter Islan...

DHD says Shrek made $20 million Friday and is heading for a $70 million weekend. MacGruber only makes $4.5 million for the weekend.

Well after looking at several crowd reports (and seeing it myself), you win this round too, Shryke.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 5/21

I agree with wrestler. Iron Man 2 is still making $300 million. As for Shrek Forever After, it could disappoint, but I can't see it going THAT low. Shrek 3 adjusted for inflation would be at $133 million, and adjusted for 3D ticket prices it would be the biggest opening of all time. With no other fa...
