Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

#6 Gaby Moreno was a nice song with great vocals yeah I liked this Mutoid Man song more...great pace and energy and some good songwriting I love Wednesday, and Bull Believer is brilliant...if it wasn't released as a single in 2022 it would have been top 10 for me too...and if I had've heard it in 20...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

#9 Botticelli Baby totally worked for me. I'm adding this song and might listen to more...and I've been listening to my DJ a bit. Probably the most effective spotify curated feature for introducing new songs blended with familiar ones and catered to taste so well I like both JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brow...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

#12 Love Los Angeles...Better Lovers was pretty good and they looked like they were having fun...Vampire Empire just missed out on my favourites list...R. Ring was fascinating - I've added that one...and that may be the worst Olivia Rodrigo song I have heard - those lyrics ugh! #11 Billy Keane was o...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

#14 I have never been able to get into B&S and I have tried. This song was a fine one-off listen though Really like the Yves Tumor song but Heaven Surrounds Us Like A Hood is their 2023 highlight for me That U2 comment about The Murder Capital is funny...and not wrong...shame its not a strong follow...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

#16 Nice call on Sinatra Drive Breakdown being on my list John! I'm impressed I found the Blur song a bit underwhelming, especially as the teaser single to a new album. I haven't bothered with the album as a result The first half of the Knocked Loose song was good. I liked the interesting sounds, an...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

#22 Kylie Fox was decent...not really my style but it kicked in nicely at the end The Sampha song is smooth but a bit dull I checked the Caroline Polachek album out too. I didn't mind her last album but this one was just too much pop and not enough art for my tastes. I mean I appreciatde that there ...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

I liked all the songs today. Fairlies got a few plays from me throughout the year. the GOLDEN DREGS moodiness reminded me of Arab Strap. Black Belt Eagle Scout had some lovely music in that song. And Genesis Owusu was enjoyably catchy

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

The Aphex Twin song had a lot going on to keep me interested. Sometimes they are too much for me but this one I could get into the zone with Buffalo Nichols was a good quality song, nothing I would come back to but happy to listen to when it is on The songs I've heard from the PJ Harvey album are no...

Re: Top 25 Songs of 2023

Oh Death was probably my song I liked most here but nothing is a keeper for me. I've heard a few Mutoid Man songs but not this one. They do interest me but I don't think I liked this one as much as others I've heard. The Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter song is interesting and I like the direction sh...

Re: Top 30 songs of 2022 - The #1's

SIX Hearing the context of I love You explains a lot. I did not know any of that background but I do think I picked up on the authentic passion and depth of feeling that they bring and now I know why that is there. As always your list was fascinating. A lot of crossover in genres and styles so prob...

Re: Top 30 songs of 2022 - The #1's

TRANNY most of the time I either really liked your picks or really didn't...liking the shouty demons picks but not getting into the pop and R&B picks at all...the King Gizz representation was awesome to see, interestingly with only one of those (Magma) being the same as the four that made my top 10...

Re: Top 30 songs of 2022 - The #1's

CHIEN what I got from your playlist was feeling. Sometimes lyrically (I actually liked the lyrics of The National song), sometimes musically, and sometimes both (I'm mostly assuming), your songs have a sense of evoking feelings, even if there was not any sort of emotional attachment to any of them ...
