Re: 2024-25 Yearlong Box Office League Waiver Wire

Shouldn't A Complete Unknown go through the waiver wire since it was more or less announced today that the film will get released in December ? Or was it already announced before ?

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates

It did perform below pre-release predictions, but in the end, it performed better than one might have feared after its $27M opening. Without the good WOM, it could have stopped below $65M.

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates

Standings (up until 7/21) This is Banks’ week with the stormy release of Twisters and it’s $81M+ heist, propelling him from 9th to 6th in the blink of an eye. Now that’s a great 3rd round pick ! Higher, Tranny gets ahead of UDM, who drops to 4th despite having his 1st and 2nd round picks on release...

Costner has lost Chien?! Guess the Horizon franchise really is doomed.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Sounds like a modern TV show, where a lot of them wait until the fifth episode to get to the point and leave you with a lot of filler as audiences are expected to binge them all, leading you to be told "but you have to watch the fifth episode" after you give up as a result of the nothingness. That'...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Well, it costs me to say this, but I gotta be honest, I finally saw Horizon Chapter I, and what a missed film this is. In fact it's not really a film. It never really starts, it doesn't really have a point of view, it has way too many characters, the storytelling is all over the place, there are too...

Add a shortage of bread and saucisson to it, and you have us cursed for a thousand years of collective nightmare with a film like that.

Trailer : The Count of Monte Cristo

Alexandre Dumas' novel is a classic for the ages not every French has read and every French knows, as it is one of the most adapted on the screen. A new film based on it made its world premiere in Cannes and was released here in late June, and is on its way to becoming one of the biggest successes o...

Re: SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 7/19

Here in France, Twisters was released on Wednesday, and it's doing wayyyy less than the first. The first made 350,000 entries on opening day in 1996, the sequel made 42,000 (65,000 with previews) on opening day. It opened only 4th at the BO, behind Despicable Me 4 (2nd week), The Count of Monte Cris...

I'm very curious about this one. Always a pleasure to see Sergio Castellito show up in a film.

Wow, I'm learning a lot about you guys. 100 laserdiscs? That's crazy. I don't think I've ever seen one. Probably never made it across the pond. Wait, what ? You've never seen a laserdisc ? It definitely crossed the Atlantic, since we had them here in France. Never owned some myself, but it was ever...

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates

Standings (up until 7/14) And everyone’s aboard now! Screen is the latest to join the party, and although Sing Sing will quietly go into the night of box-office, Longlegs proves to be a more than worthy 8th round pick for him, already banking more in one weekend than the other 8th round picks did i...

Re: SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 7/19

Wondering if I'm the only one here who saw the original Twister in theatres. No buddy, I remember it perfectly. Released in August '96 here, around the end of summer, I was 14 and I had been craving to see it all summer when I finally got to see it in my local theater. I loved it, I was a sucker fo...

Who knows. The year I had Top Gun Maverick and its 700M+ BO take, and Six had Avatar and its 600M+ BO take, none of us won. There can always be surprises.

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates

Definitely, Walleye. I did not expect 35M from The Strangers.
Twisters is a film I was wary of during the draft, the first trailer didn't impress me at all, but it seems it's gonna be big indeed.
