Re: Screening The Releases - May 3rd
It moved to May 3rd since Universal saw an opportunity to be the summer kickoff film after Disney left that slot up for grabs, and opening 2 weeks before Dune in March probably would've cut its legs more so than opening just before Apes. This is definitely a rarity brought on by the strikes, as it'l...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Ferrari 6.5/10 The movie's technical elements are quite superb, the racing sequences are thrilling with some great sound design, there are a few effective moments, and the performances are generally solid. The problem is that the story put too much focus on dull relationship drama that I couldn't g...

Re: Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2024
I haven't done one of these "most anticipated" lists in a while, but fuck it, let's give it a go. 1. Bad Boys: Ride or Die 2. Deadpool & Wolverine 3. A Quiet Place: Day One 4. Alien: Romulus 5. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 6. Furiosa 7. Twisters Also plan on seeing at some point: The Fall Guy T...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Makes sense to not release Kraven so close to Deadpool. If the thing is somehow any good it could have holiday legs.

Re: Screening The Releases - April 19th
I thought about doing a double feature with Civil War and Abigail, but decided that it'd probably be too much for one day. Plus I wasn't really in the right mood for something as bleak and unrelenting as CW probably is. I may wait that one out honestly.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Abigail 7.5/10 Overall, this is another bloody fun time from Radio Silence. It's tense and gripping throughout without an over reliance on jump scares, it can be appropriately funny without disrupting tension, and the characters walk a fine line and have an edge to them while still remaining likabl...

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread
Abigail (Regal):
MaXXXine (red band)
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
The Strangers: Chapter 1
The Fall Guy
Speak No Evil
It'll be the end of an era when Fall Guy and Apes finally release in a few weeks and I'm no longer seeing their trailers before nearly everything.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Transformers One is now set to open the same day as The Wild Robot (which I think looks considerably better), I guess the latter will move to either October or late August.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
The Last Voyage of the Demeter 5/10 Not dreadful but definitely a rather meh experience. It looks nice enough visually, there's some occasional decent tension, and the actors try their best with this material. However it's far too long and slow paced, and therefore can only keep momentum for brief ...

Re: Screening The Releases - April 12th
The Shrek 2 re-release outgrossed the 3 recent Pixar re-releases combined! It shows that there's certainly appetite for Shrek 5.
I haven't been able to go to the movies these past few weeks, but I'm hoping to do a double feature with Abigail and another movie this weekend.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Freelance 2/10 This is the worst recent release that I've seen since that shitty oil rig movie! 108 minutes of my life that are gone forever. It's horribly directed and written, badly acted (I enjoy Cena in other stuff but he needs a decent script), there's zero chemistry, it's not even remotely fu...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
The Iron Claw 8/10 Yeah, it is quite good. I probably wouldn't watch it again anytime soon, but it's a very well made, tremendously acted (especially from Zac Efron) powerful film. I just knew the bare minimum about these guys, but damn, a very tragic story indeed. The only real issue is that, even...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire 7/10 Although I think this is a small step down from Godzilla vs. Kong, I still had a good time with this movie. The monster action is once again a blast, very well directed with top notch CGI and really good sound design (WB will understandably be pushing Dune 2 in ...

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 3/29
I was more referring to Minus One affecting critical reviews of GxK, as folks are inevitably making comparisons. Regardless, I can see why this one is making a killing at the box office.
