Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Still think Lionsgate should have gone the Fear Street route with these, making a deal to release them on streaming one-a-week.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Did we really need a movie like this? Especially seeing how Armageddon Time, which featured a subject related to the figure of this film, was set in the same era, and also had Jeremy Strong in the cast, flopped at the box office after it played at Cannes two years ago. And even if the movie actually...

It's become our version of the Pretty in Pink 2 joke on HSX.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

I get the feeling they're going to sit on a lot of these, much like Miramax used to do. They have something like 20 undated movies right now.

Meanwhile, I found out they finally released the Jerry Lee Lewis documentary on Prime three months ago. They really buried that one despite its director.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

A24 has picked up Adam Wingard's newest, a return to the horror genre with Onslaught. It should be ready by next Halloween.

Re: Screening The Releases - May 3rd

After all of the pre-release hype and the word out of SXSW, you would have expected it to do better on Thursday that it did. This is only $250,000 above Civil War's preview numbers, a much grimmer film without a name lead and with an R rating. It more than likely doesn't hit $30 million this weekend...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Yeah, I can't see two Amy Adams movies being out of the same time when this is set to be her comeback year. You want one out after the other, not concurrently.

In addition, Ishiguro is a very highbrow author so a film like this might need to have a lot of work in how to market it.

Peacock might not even exist by February. It's been a money pit for Comcast.

Re: Screening The Releases - May 3rd

Pretty disappointing numbers for the first movie of the summer. Universal's going to really need word of mouth to save this one.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Richard Curtis must be desperate at this point (edit: Curtis isn't working on this one, having been replaced on the script with the director of Dirty Grandpa and Home Sweet Home Alone).

But anyway, yet another fourth installment no one asked for.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

I'm going to take Possum Trot (or whatever it's going to be called) And hope that the July 4th date and Angel Studios' push will make it do better than the usual Christian fare Why am I not surprised Letitia Wright's now working with Angel Studios. To go from Marvel to Evangelical fare in two years...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

The latest of the increasingly rare group of movies not screened for critics. It seems like only Sony still chooses to do this on things they know are bad.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

A Chicago movie that wasn't filmed in Chicago. That doesn't happen too often.

And when I see the title Levon's Trade, I think of it sounding like Cogan's Trade, which was adapted as Killing Them Softly, but with The Band's Levon Helm in the Brad Pitt role.

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

I got real Skinamarink vibes from the trailer. Also, I just don't get the whole "gore = scary" belief so many connected to horror have.
