Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 5/10
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Cinemascore was a B, exactly what I expected.

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft
I remember the production problems and poor test screenings Gravity had, leading to it getting delayed a full year. It ended up making millions and winning a boatload of Oscars.

Everyone will have forgotten the story by November. A lot of these same people think Chris Kyle and Tim Ballard are heroes and not the liars and assholes they really are.

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 5/10
The audience response at my showing on Thursday was rather muted. I'm expecting a Cinemascore in the B range, below the three previous films' A- scores.

I was convinced the PG-13 rating would kill Five Nights at Freddy's. But then I found out the game had a fanbase under 18.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 5/10 Disappointing fourth installment of the prequel series that suffers from the change in creative talent, going from Matt Reeves and the writing team of Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver to the director of the Maze Runner series and the showrunner of the Snowpiercer TV ...

Re: 2024 Festivals/Awards Thread
Going Universal to MUBI feels like a sign that it's a very niche film. In addition, the casting choices give it a very straight-to-VOD quality, even with the Cannes premiere.

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 5/10
The Fall Guy's struggles come two-fold. First, movies about filmmaking rarely take off. Unless it's making fun of the process like Tropic Thunder or manages to have a second hook like The Artist, the general public doesn't really care to watch something about celebrity. We already have TMZ. Second, ...

The Interstellar reissue opens on September 27th.
Meanwhile, add Hellboy: The Golden Man to the wire. Ketchup is planning a wide release towards the end of the year.

Re: 2024-25 Yearlong Box Office League Waiver Wire
Really surprised no one drafted The Fire Inside or Homestead. The Fire Inside is going to be promoted heavily during the Olympics while Angel is going to truly go out of their way to make Homestead the next Sound of Freedom, especially since it's set to launch a series that's planned to be their nex...

Didn't think Ansari would return to directing after Disney shut down his previous project halfway through filming.

The Wedding Singer remake not a lot of people were asking for. And it feels like the director's been making the same movie for nearly two decades.
Meanwhile, let's hope Ron makes his final pick this year.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
I can't recall the last time Jason Reitman made a good movie. If he didn't have a famous father, he'd be nothing more than the director of some episodes of forgettable sitcoms. As for the premise, this sounds as unnecessary as that David O. Russell project about the creation of the Madden games that...
