If Channing Tatum ever reverses his stance on superhero movies, Gambit would be a box office monster.

Brave New World was my other choice but I was already going to lean into Venom 3: Even more venom-ier! I do not understand the appeal of these movies at all. But the first two both made over 200 million?!? Guess I'll hope the third time still charms.

Venom is loved by edgy men who never grew out of their teen years. The same people who watch every episode of The Walking Dead and wear Affliction and Tapout shirts everywhere while listening to Imagine Dragons at full-blast in their $80,000 trucks.

I may pick it just a tad too soon, but who knows what double Six will bet on. There are safer options on the table, but I feel that this could be the big four-quadrant holiday film of the season, with the reteaming of the director and star of Jumanji. Even if I would have prefered another studio at the helm, but if Amazon/MGM can get 50 million out of AIR in spring, who knows what they can get out of this one at the holiday season.
I'll go with Red One.

Sorry guys. I went to bed really early to catch up on sleep.

Going to pick..

Snow White

And

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

The latter is a relatively safe bet, and even with all the complaints and anti-woke whining, The Little Mermaid still delivered solid numbers. So Snow White should do fine

My next pick is the easiest I made so far. I know some fear the slap thing may bring backlash to Smith BO magic, but I'm sure Bad Boys Ride or Die will have strong numbers nonetheless. The calendar is light in competition for it in June. We don't talk much about it right now but I'm sure it can bring anywhere from 130 to 230 million.

Hmm Apes was my first choice here. And I want to grab Mickey 17 but it's release date doesn't suggest blockbuster. Sonic has much competition but still seems like the safe pick here.
I'll have none of that safety business! Give me:

Snow White and Apes were solid picks for R2 & 3. And Rohirrim is a pick with great potential.

Not going to hear any complaints from me. No Michael Penix Jr.'s here.

Doesn't mean I have a personal interest though. I just don't see any reaches.

We're at the point in the draft where historically I know I can talk myself into anything. usually a movie I'm personally excited about - even if no one else is. But - what did we learn from 2023? Original concepts can sell! So I'll take the Untitled Ryan Coogler movie. Here's hoping it keeps its date. And that it's more than a bad Dracula spin-off.

Woah, that's a major surprise. I have a gut feeling this film will do well, but what a ballsy move to take it at this point.

Then again, we've an insane Frenchman who thinks it's okay to draft Red One in Round Two, so anything goes at this point.

Next Banks will be taking I Saw the TV Glow

Walleye, Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Sound of Freedom weren't that original. One was based on a toy, one was an adaptation of a biography, and the third was (sort of but was more likely to be the ramblings of a egomaniac who loves Chris Kyle and his lies) based on a true story.

As for Dracula adaptations, it looks like we'll never get that modern take Karyn Kusama was going to do (Universal made Renfield instead) but if Chloe Zhao's version ever gets off the ground, that could be interesting. Her concept gives me Vampire Hunter D vibes.
