I can see on Facebook that your birthday approaching made you take a retrospective look at your earlier years
I hadn't made the connection, but that might have something to do with it, subconsciously. One of the few advantages of being forty-something is that you're permitted the occasional moment of nostalgia.
It all started when a friend googled my name and found a photo of me when I was five on a genealogy website. I hadn't seen that photo in twenty years and was shocked to find it on the internet. A few weeks later I found my old family photos in a closet and decided I had to preserve them digitally in case I ever lose the hard copies. I'm going to try to scan them or take the negatives to a photo shop and see if they can transfer them. In the meantime I snapped photos of a few favourites with my phone and uploaded them on FB. It's been a fun trip down memory lane. The best part has been seeing my dearly departed furry friends: the family dog, the family cat, and my once-glorious head of hair. :sigh:
That's a good move John. I have scanned a few old photos myself, but not nearly as much as I should have. Even in my 30's, nostalgia gets to me from time to time...
