I hate myself for making this pick but Katy Perry: Part of Me 3-D.

I'll take The Watch and hope that Stiller/Vaughn still have an audience.
And that will do it for my wide-release films (probably).

I can meet you halfway on the embarassment factor, Bouush, I'll take Magic Mike, along with Premium Rush.

I will take Lawless and hope that it can win the last weekend of the season.

Re: June-August Drafting Thread (Division A)
I was considering that, but with it only having one weekend I thought there would be more movies capable of bringing in more BO and Top 5s with the more weekends in play. That, and for the most part westerns are rarely successful, and the trailer did nothing to alleviate those feelings.

We seriously priced Hit and Run higher than The Possession? Hit and Run is one of those films that I'm amazed is even going to theatres.

Re: June-August Drafting Thread (Division A)
The Possession only has one weekend in theatres with a good chance it won't even be the biggest movie of it's own weekend, never mind topping previous movies. It was rightly priced low. I do kind of agree with you about Hit and Run though, but I can see the logic with the extra weekend in play.

Re: June-August Drafting Thread (Division A)
The Possession could easily hit $20 million opening weekend (if The Last Exorcism could, why not a more conventional film with a horror directing icon as producer?). Meanwhile, I can't see Hit and Run getting a PTA of $1,000 on opening weekend.

Re: June-August Drafting Thread (Division A)
I agree, it's certainly possible The Possession performs to that number, but with one weekend in play the no of top 5/ PTA are limited greatly, so it's $ value is adjusted accordingly. By the way, I listed Hit & Run lower than The Possession in my price list (at $3), so I do see your point.

That's going to hamstring you in your last 3 picks, W. You only have $8 to spend on 3 films.

I'll take The Possession. One week should give me 5 Top 5 points, $20 million and a 6 IMDb rating at least.

Re: June-August Drafting Thread (Division A)
That's how I build my slate most of the time anyways unless there's some higher priced PTA films that I'm sure about like Marigold (which there normally aren't, because I still don't completely know how to pick them).
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Re: June-August Drafting Thread (Division A)
However, you are forced to pick up a $2 movie, and I doubt many, if any of those will yield any PTA points. Could possibly be a wasted pick. Plus we haven't even addressed the issue of you picking Abe Lincoln... [wink]
