Casey Kasem doesn't care much for U2.

Re: Found Sounds
What is with The Flaming Lips and bizarre experiments anyway? They also did an four-disc album in which all four discs have to be played at the same time (which requires you to have four CD players be perfectly synced) to get the full experience. And they refuse to release a single-disc version of it as they claim "it wouldn't sound perfect".
Do they really hate their fanbase?

Re: Found Sounds
I don't think it's about hating their fanbase, it's about pushing the limits of the music industry and our expectations. Album length was determined by a medium that's now obsolete, so why not screw around with different ways of hearing music. Besides, they usually release "normal" records on a regular basis so they can surprise with oddities like this. I'm not a huge fan of their music but I do appreciate their creativity and liberating approach to music.

The best song from The Airborne Toxic Event's second album, which is one of the most outstanding albums I've ever heard. Not a single dud. It's breathtaking. A band that showed a vast potential with their first effort that lived up to it and more with their second.

Re: Found Sounds
Went to see Red Hot Chilli Peppers last week in London, they played about 3 songs from their new album, which is ok, but i need to hear it some more. The title track Monarchy of Roses, which they opened with, is my fav so far, its very different to the other stuff they've done, a little retro but a good beat and melody like always.
Geez, the song above sounds incredibly generic, i just dont like it, not sure which genre to put it in though, alt rock/pop. The band name is very original though, ill remember that at least

I've always had a soft spot for Pet Shop Boys... for nigh on 25 years now they've been one of my guiltiest pleasures. And they're still going!
Consistency is a rare thing in music, and I have been listening to PSB's entire discography on YouTube. Here's one that I just started listening to... if you love classic New Order, you'll love the guitar rhythms on this song.

Neon Indian? Anyone? Its fairly futuristic, the new album Era Extrana im giving a solid 8/10

Re: Found Sounds
I'd say the opposite about Neon Indian. They're deliberately nostalgic, relying on using sounds from the 80's and applying the kind of ambient electro treatment you saw a lot about 10 years ago (Boards of Canada, a lot of music on Kranky records, etc)
Re: Found Sounds
I was playing Zoot Woman's debut record to my Belgian friend last night, and he recognized "The Model." I thought it was a Zoot Woman original, but it turns out its a Kraftwerk song.
Blew my mind. But it also makes perfect sense.

Kraftwerk - "Das Model"
