Ironic that after all those SNL sketches where Trebek (Will Ferrell) and Sean Connery (Darrell Hammond) went toe to toe so many times, both men end up passing a week apart.

Not to mention President Lindberg in The Fifth Element. He was also the unnamed tattooed prisoner who threw the detonator out of the ferry window in The Dark Knight rather than blow up the other boat.

Lister delivers the final line in this scene with such precision that it's fucking hysterial.

I did not realize Charley Pride died. He was really the only black country singer anyone knew growing up and one of only six CMA lifetime achievement winners. Also the only black winner of Entertainer of the Year and two time Male Vocalist of the Year. He was still doing it in 2020 at age 86. I went through his Wikipedia and saw he was also a Negro League pitcher and was once traded for a used bus.

I also just saw that Tanya Roberts died at age 65. She was a huge 70's icon (Charley's Angels, Bond Girl), but I know her mainly as Midge from That 70's Show. She left the show when her husband was sick and came back after he passed. Her character was dimwitted eye candy, but always delivered great one liners.

I remember Tanya Roberts as the eye candy from The Beastmaster. Great cheesy 80s flick.

Turns out Tanya didn't die after all. The announcement was made in error. She's alive, but hospitalized.

He was the oldest living member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was Mike Piazza's brother's godfather and got Mike drafted as a favor in 62nd round (1390th) and converted him to a catcher. He was also the godfather to Alex Avila, so I guess he just really knew how to pick out All-Star/HoF catchers young.

Michael Apted passed away. He had a pretty strange career, going from docs to social realist drama to massive blockbusters and back again. He'll mostly be known for directing the epic "Up" doc series which revisted the same group of people every 7 years, from 7 years old to 63, which broadcast last year. He also directed Nell, Gorillas in the Mist, Gorky Park, The World is Not Enough and Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

My French cinephile heart is broken in pieces today, as it was announced a few hours ago that Jean-Pierre Bacri, probably the best actor/screenwriter/playwright coming from France those last 40 years, has passed away (damn cancer). He was 69.

If you don't know him, do yourself a favour and watch the films he acted in, and especially the ones he wrote.

For those he wrote (and he acts in most of them), especially those :
- "Smoking", "No Smoking" and "On connaît la chanson" ("Same old song"), directed by Alain Resnais.
- "Un air de famille" directed by Cédric Klapisch
- "Le goût des autres" ("The Taste of Others"), directed by Agnès Jaoui.

As an actor, go watch these :
- "Didier", directed by Alain Chabat
- "Kennedy et moi" (Kennedy and I), directd by Sam Karmann
- "La vie très privée de monsieur Sim" (The very private life of mister Sim) directed by Michel Leclerc
- "Le sens de la fête" (C'est la vie), directed by Toledano & Nakache.

What a sad day for French cinema.
