Speaking of Disney, The Empty Man has to be getting pushed again. Two weeks before opening and still no trailer or poster (possible Netflix sale?).

In other news, Promising Young Woman will open on Christmas Day. This one had been without a new date for months.

Mosul, a project originally planned to be released by 101 Studios, will now hit Netflix in the next few months.

And speaking of films changing distributors, Vertical will release the long-delayed The Informer, previously held up in the US due to Aviron's financial and legal issues, on November 6th.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie has been pushed again to 2/26/2021, keeping it in Oscar contention.

Still waiting on a delay announcement for The Empty Man.

Amazon just closed a $125 mil deal (!!!) to acquire Coming 2 America from Paramount. It will be released on Prime on the original theatrical date of December 18th.

I was sure Netflix would get it, considering the success they had with Dolemite is My Name. But I guess Beverly Hills Cop IV was good enough for them.

In other news, the IMAX theatres that are still open will get Honest Thief this weekend. Seems like Warner Bros. is loosening their 12 week requirements on Tenet.

The Empty Man will open on Friday after all. Disney released a poster last night with the current date.

Meanwhile, Amazon will release Uncle Frank, which had a big deal for the rights but mixed reviews, on Prime on November 25th. Not sure if there will be a theatrical run two weeks before (which was the case with Time and will be the case for Sound of Metal).

I have to wonder if Disney's going to regret sending Soul straight to Disney+. It's currently at a 94 on Metacritic.

Still waiting on them to sell Connected to Netflix. I'll be surprised if this isn't in the Best Animated Feature race, considering how good early word is on it.

Considering that Sony had pushed everything else back, it was a matter of time before Ghostbusters: Angry White Dude Version would too.

In other news, Legally Blonde 3 is back on for 5/20/2022. Who actually wants this, especially considering that co-writer Mindy Kaling's Four Weddings and a Funeral reboot wasn't well-received?

Respect is now out of the Oscar race, as it has been pushed to 8/13/2021. I have a feeling it wouldn't have been a contender.

Related to MGM, Tomb Raider 2 is now undated. Apparently, the film is still happening but considering how middling Rebecca's reception was, it wouldn't be surprising if Ben Wheatley got replaced.

Wheatley's also lined up for Meg 2, so not sure if he can do both.

Looks like very few films for the OScars next year. Will it cancel I wonder? Or just be a slightly more glitzy version of the Gotham Awards.

Unless they have (still) a vendetta against Netflix, I think the Oscars will go on.

And I have to wonder if they'll make a Meg sequel without Statham. He trashed the first one even after it made millions.
