This is by far the weirdest season we've had of the draft. So many movies dumped. So many flops. So much waiting to see if a movie is going to be released theatrically or not. A lot of crap to muck through really. :?

Totally agree on this. So far we've got 5-6 massive blockbusters (2 somewhat unexpected in Aladdin and Joker) and otherwise a bunch of lame underperforming duds. Plus with streaming stealing movies it's getting weird. Going to change our little game more and more I'm afraid.

I'd say the streaming movies are a mixed bag. The Irishman might have made some money but things like The Laundromat would have been a total bust at the box office.

Yeah, but at some level it's just volume too. Superintelligence, Noelle, they may not have been hits but they add to the mid range hits we usually say can win the game.

Superintelligence probably would have played like Father Figures did a few years back. A long-delayed film with a star trending downward (McCarthy) paired with a talk show host with limited box office success (Corden) from a director with a negative track record would have bombed at any time of the year.

As for Noelle, Kendrick is not a draw outside of Pitch Perfect and Bill Hader has the Andy Samberg conundrum: someone people will watch on TV for free but not pay to see in a movie (Kate McKinnon is in the same boat, but would you stand to watch McKinnon be annoying for two hours? It didn't work for Sofia Vergara.). Also, the film looks cheap and it got a G rating, the latter which is somewhat of a no-no in terms of box office prospects.

I think the point is, yes some of these movies would not have been big, but getting $20-30M from a couple movies could be the difference in winning or making it to the top division. There just aren't as many movies to pick from as their used to be.

That's absolutely correct. Because of the proliferation of streaming, Netflix, and DTV movies, I'm thinking we should probably cut the number of rounds from 16 to 14. Thoughts?

I'd be okay with that. The last couple of rounds were pure speculation. And there's nothing on the Waiver wire. Well, except for The Avengers movie that one time :)

Can we add Antebellum (4/24/20) to the waiver wire?

I had to check wire position this morning and realized I was one off. I held my #1 position for months one year and got American Reunion. That's the best one I remember besides Avengers.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.
