Re: Walleye's Weekly Winners: The Films of 4/27
Whoever dies, it'll be someone no one really cares about. Hawkeye and Scarlett Witch are good examples, as they have fuck all presence in the movies. Maybe Loki too as he has outstayed his welcome so damn much.
Needless to say, the film with kill off the character, spend 5 seconds mourning with a jaw-clamped look of sorrow from the Avengers, a dash of sad music, and then move on to the other 500 lead characters.

I think they'll keep Loki alive. He has too many fans that would complain if anything happened to him (hell, the second Thor was basically Loki Memes: The Movie).
But of course, with those Captain Marvel plans, you know that they'll bring them all back.

Re: Walleye's Weekly Winners: The Films of 4/27
My guess is that Captain America, Iron Man, Bucky and a fair amount of minor characters (Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, possibly Mantis) will die over the next 2 movies. To be honest, I think the only real wild cards are the people involved with the Thor franchise. While Hiddelston and Hemsworth have been playing those characters forever, Ragnarok was easily the most successful entry in the series and Hemsworth has stated that he's open to continue to playing the character despite his contract coming to an end.

Based on what one of my European friends has told me, there is a lot of death. However, whether these deaths are permanent will probably not be revealed until Part 2 (and Captain Marvel).

I think one or two 'major' deaths will happen in the beginning, vision and tony stark are my guesses.....
spoilers from the comics follow, (though they haven't ever stayed truly dedicated the comics)
then at the end half disappear like the did in the comics, then next year's movie is about the rest trying to get them back.

I have been informed that Hawkeye and Ant-Man do not even appear in the movie. Nor does Valkyrie. Hmm.

Theater Counts
Avengers: Infinity War - 4,474 (a record, I think)
Disobedience - 5
Next week:
Overboard - 1,500
Bad Samaritan - 1,500
Tully - 1,200
I have to wonder if any of these three films will even crack the Top 5.
Celebrity Birthdays:
Giancarlo Esposito turned 60 on 4/26
Michelle Pfeiffer turns 60 on 4/29

Re: Walleye's Weekly Winners: The Films of 4/27
Bad Samaritan is being distributed in a bizarre way, I've noticed. In addition to the director self-distributing (using his own company rather than renting a distributor like Soderbergh does), it's the first project from a crowd-sourced company that's planning meet-ups across the country to support the film (there's one happening near me but I've got plans to see rep screenings of Blood Simple and Videodrome that day).
But I don't see it working, to be honest. The theatre count was lowered from 2,500 theatres to 1,800 and the film seems like something you'd see on demand or straight-to-DVD.
Meanwhile, I think Overboard has a decent shot of making money even though it looks as if they haven't changed much from the original. $10 million is possible with an outside shot for $12 million.
As for whether or not Infinity War has the widest opening ever, it's the second widest. Despicable Me 3 still holds the record by 55 theatres (I'm expecting The Grinch to pass it).

Can confirm. Hawkeye and Ant-Man were explained away (they're literally under house arrest from Civil War).Shrykespeare wrote:I have been informed that Hawkeye and Ant-Man do not even appear in the movie. Nor does Valkyrie. Hmm.
Not much of a spoiler, but nonetheless.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Will be very interesting to see the hold on Infinity Wars. The response locally is immense. Fans are loving it, and desperate for more. It's definitely more than Avengers 2, that's for sure. i'm still holding with 600m cume but we'll see.
