Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
After being the bridesmaid (or should that be the groomsman?) the past two weeks, I think I've got the formula to win this week. Love, Simon sneaked very well on Saturday ($800,000 in just over 900 theatres, which would have translated to a $4,000-5,000 PTA in a regular situation) which I Can Only Imagine is pre-selling well here (maybe having a name actor in this one helps its chances). Rounding out the slate's difficult but I went with Jumanji as it should hold better than other titles in its price range.

Yay, after 3 weeks, I'm 29th overall out of more than 22,000 players !

Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
Well done, guys. I'm gutted about last week. Was in the process of changing my slate to all I Can Only Imagine only for it to get locked in mid shift. That's what I get for being in Paris, eh Chien
Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
And it's adding even more theatres this weekend. With a weak lineup of movies, I'm going with an I Can Only Imagine/Unsane lineup (I'm going to assume some people haven't gotten tired of Soderbergh's shtick yet).

Don't blame it on Paris, Six. I'm sure it's more Berlin's fault. Not Paris.numbersix wrote:That's what I get for being in Paris, eh Chien

A new tiebreaker has been introduced to produce definitive winners. Instead of time posted, you will now answer a question on how much the film expected to open to the most money will make. The person closest to that figure while also having the best lineup wins.
Interestingly, I find the film that's the object of the tiebreaker overpriced this weekend.

Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
Interesting.
On another note, and I know it's gonna jinx me to write that, but I'm 5th overall in the season showdown, out of the 24,000 players of FML !!!! Hell yes !!
It's just after 5 weeks so when all is said and done, I'll probably be much lower than that, but it still feels good !

Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
Box Office Champs has opened its summer season.
So what is everyone picking? (Keep in mind that, like our league, Avengers numbers only count from the second weekend onward.)
Here's what I have at the moment (season ends at the end of July)
1. Jurassic World
2. Solo
3. Avengers
4. Deadpool 2
5. Incredibles 2
6. Ant-Man and the Wasp
After that, it gets a bit trickier, as there are no real guaranteed blockbusters within the time-frame of the game.
7. Ocean's 8
8. Hotel Transylvania 3 (3 weeks)
9. Life of the Party
10. The First Purge
Alternates:
Tag
Mamma Mia 2
Mission: Impossible: Fallout
I don't see any other films making $50M. How about y'all?

Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
You think Avengers will still outgross everything, even after its first week?
ETA: Shit, I forgot about Skyscraper. That'll go in at #9.

Yes. Marvel has been building up to Infinity War for 10 years, which gives it the event film status that the rest of the summer slate lacks and subsequently should allow it to outgross everything else they've ever put out (with the likely exception of Black Panther). Plus since BOC's season stars on April 30th, you're only shaving off 3 days of grosses, which should put it at least $400 mil for the season.

Re: FantasyMovieLeague.com
I noticed something that I'm not sure if it's a glitch or not. I put in my slate on Monday but forgot to do the tiebreaker (it's on the bottom of the screen so it's really easy to miss). But instead of automatically filling it in by the middle or simply writing it off, my weekend apparently doesn't count. And I'm not the only one.
Does that make any sense to you? I have to wonder how many people have had their games screwed up by a simple design flaw.
